Sr. Product Manager, Workflow Runner

Zapier is on a mission to make automation work for everyone, and we're seeking a Sr. Product Manager to lead our Workflow Runner team—the engine that powers automation at Zapier. This is one of the most complex and business-critical systems at Zapier, and in this role, you will define and drive a strategy to improve its reliability, scalability, and capabilities.

In this role, you'll:

  • Drive the technical vision and roadmap for the workflow runner.

  • Partner with staff engineers, SREs, and other product teams to understand complex infrastructure needs.

  • Work closely with our Sales and Customer Success teams to understand and address enterprise challenges.

  • Connect directly with customers to deeply understand their needs.

  • Prioritize between system-level scalability and reliability improvements and customer facing features.

This high-visibility role requires the ability to blend deep technical leadership with a strong understanding of customer needs. You'll shape core platform decisions that enable our entire customer base to trust Zapier with their mission critical workflows.

If you're passionate about building technical platforms and have experience translating customer needs into scalable solutions, we'd love to hear from you!

My name is Noah, and I’m the Director of Product for Workflow at Zapier, and this role will report to me. Zapier, we like to share our README’s so you can get to us too; here’s mine.

About You

You have experience improving reliability and scale of mature systems. You have 5+ years of experience as a product manager working on technical SaaS products and/or platforms operating at scale. You understand how to monitor and improve core system reliability and scalability in order to improve customer trust.

You have strong technical skills. You use your technical context to make better, faster decisions and to minimize technical debt. You have experience working on complex technical products at scale and are able to both bring the 'voice of the customer' to engineers and translate technical work for non-technical stakeholders.

You communicate the vision for your team and then make it happen. You work with leadership to refine your team’s vision and set a roadmap for how you'll solve those problems. You know how to turn vision into goals, goals into a roadmap, and a roadmap into daily and weekly tasks for your team. You excel at keeping a cross-functional team working effectively and efficiently.

You know how to get results. Through collaboration with your team, you routinely deliver meaningful results for the business. You share, celebrate, and build momentum around positive results. You learn and course correct when you don’t get the results you want.

You are data-driven. You use data to uncover opportunities and understand what levers to pull to drive business results. You know how to measure the results of your work, test it with real users, and understand its downstream effects. You consider the long-term impacts of experiments and look for more than just a short-term boost to metrics.

You have ample analytics skills. You can use self-serve data exploration tools to support your own decision-making. While you'll have resources on your team who are experts in these areas, you can fill in the gaps whenever needed.

You are a skilled written communicator. Zapier is a 100% remote team and writing is our primary means of communication. You can use written communication to communicate your team’s vision, roadmap, and progress. You know the right tool for the job whether it’s managing the day-to-day cadence of projects or building cross-company momentum around a project.

You love doing things efficiently. At Zapier, your work will have a disproportionate impact on the business. We believe in systems and processes that let us scale our impact to be larger than ourselves.

Things You’ll Do

  • Communicate a vision for the team looking out 3-12 months and build a roadmap to match that vision

  • Work in a small, autonomous, cross-functional team alongside engineering, UX research, and data science to decide what we build next and execute on that decision

  • Talk with our customers and stakeholders to more deeply understand the problems that we can address for them

  • Work closely with engineers on solutions to diagnose issues, ideate solutions, drive execution, and measure results.

  • Develop a sufficient understanding of technical context to help make better, faster decisions, and work closely with engineers on solutions

  • Dig deep on data to understand trends and develop a better picture of the business, the product, or our customers.

  • Measure and report on the results of your work

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com

Application Deadline:

The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled.
