Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring being in-person 1-3 days per week at our client's St. Paul office.
We are seeking to hire a Senior Tax Preparer responsible for preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the accurate filing of individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage client relationships. This is a seasonal, hybrid, hourly position that requires 1-3 days per week in the office in St. Paul, MN.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Preparation and Review:
- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
- Ensure all tax filings comply with current tax laws and regulations.
- Address and resolve technical tax issues.
2. Client Consultation and Communication:
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documents.
- Provide expert advice on tax-saving strategies and planning opportunities.
- Respond to client inquiries and resolve tax-related issues promptly.
3. Compliance and Research:
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Conduct research on complex tax matters and provide guidance to the team and clients.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
4. Process Improvement:
- Recommend and implement improvements in tax preparation procedures and workflows.
- Utilize tax software and tools efficiently and train staff on best practices.
- Ensure quality control measures are in place to minimize errors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or EA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, with expertise in complex tax returns.
- Proven experience in UltraTax and QuickBooks
- Demonstrated Experience in preraring and reviewing forms 1040, 1041, 1120, & 1065
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
