Senior Counsel

About the role and about You:

Zwift is looking for an experienced Senior Counsel to provide legal guidance across the business. Reporting to the Head of Legal, People, and Workplace, you’ll join a team with Senior Counsel based in the United Kingdom and Senior Manager, Compliance & Risk in Long Beach. If you’re looking to expand your in-house legal experience, this is the perfect opportunity for you! 

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with the business to provide general legal support to a wide range of stakeholders, including the leadership team, across the company and on a broad spectrum of legal matters.
  • Help the business achieve its commercial goals and manage risk when reviewing, revising, and negotiating various commercial contracts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to review new or changing features and uses of information to facilitate compliance with privacy laws and company policies.
  • Assist the business with employment and consulting matters.
  • Manage outside counsel where appropriate, including selecting and directing the work of outside counsel, defining project objectives, and managing projects and budgets.
  • Assist with legal projects as they arise, such as litigation, M&A, and legal research projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • J.D. from an ABA-approved law school
  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar, preferably California
  • 3+ years of work experience as an attorney
  • Strong work ethic and organization skills 
  • Commercially pragmatic and business oriented
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Bonus points: 

  • Proven in-house experience, preferably at a global company
  • Specific experience in data privacy 
  • Privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, specialty from law school, etc.)
  • Experience in a technology or software business

The base salary for this position ranges between $128,500 to $204,500. The base salary will be based on a number of factors including the role offered, the individual's job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
