Manager Assistant – Finance Control Management and SOX Governance & Advisory (FCM & SOX) and Finance Data Technology & Transformation (FTD&T), Controllership (Finance)
The Manager Assistant to the Vice President – FCM&SOX and FTD&T plays a vital leadership and strategic role in the effective operation of the Controllership organization, driving and supporting high profile initiatives on behalf of FCM&SOX, FTD&T, and the broader organization. The Manager Assistant (MA) is highly visible within the organization and is a member of the FCM&SOX and FTD&T senior leadership team.
The FCM&SOX organization is comprised of approximately 100 colleagues and partners with business units and staff groups across American Express to ensure financial integrity and a strong control environment. This team is focused on enabling and delivering the highest standards for risk and control management across Finance and the broader enterprise.
The FTD&T organization is comprised of approximately 130 colleagues and represents Finance to set strategy and direct Technology investments. This team is focused on driving Finance technology and data modernizations, improving control management and seeking innovative capabilities by partnering with Technology, Finance and Enterprise stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
Drive ideation and completion of high priority deliverables on behalf of the global team, including ensuring the execution of pan-Controllership initiatives, overseeing organizational strategy, and creating key presentations for internal and external constituents, including the Deputy and Corporate Controller, Deficiency Evaluation Committee, Control Management Town Halls, and FinTech Steering Committee.
Serves as a trusted advisor to the FCM&SOX and FTD&T leadership teams, respectfully challenging leaders to help drive discussion and decision-making.
Collaborates closely with CEG and other Controllership leaders to set and execute talent, performance, development and compensation initiatives/reviews.
Collaborates closely with the Corporate Controller Chief of Staff team to support broader Controllership initiatives.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting for the team, including annual budget exercise, monthly tracking of actuals, compilation of risks and opportunities, and preparation of monthly budget analysis package.
Lead the goal setting, PMP/Talent Assessment processes, year-end compensation, training and development, employee recognition and employee engagement initiatives and events.
Align with Leadership Team members and their offices on initiatives, ensuring completion of key deliverables.
Oversee global team communications efforts, including driving town halls and various other presentations and speaking engagements for the VPs.
Required Qualifications:

Communicates effectively, both in written and verbal mediums; presents with confidence.
Exemplifies high emotional intelligence; able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting / technology required.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Finance / Technology / Control Management related role.
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
