Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization.  EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

American Express is on a multi-year journey to enhance our focus on Privacy compliance as well as Customer data handling and transparency.  As part of this journey, EDGP is establishing the Global Privacy Center of Excellence.  The Senior Manager, Control Framework will sit within the newly formed Privacy Center of Excellence to define and execute privacy activity control implementation by defining standards of care for privacy activities across the enterprise for all processes and technologies. This role will coordinate across business units and markets to set control guidelines and identify opportunities for improvement in relation to privacy risk.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with partners in the global Privacy Center of Excellence to enhance an enterprise-wide privacy control framework to guide how American Express detects and mitigates privacy risk
  • Outline technical and business requirements for technology to successfully implement and document relevant privacy controls
  • Ensure integration of privacy controls embedded across existing systems and capabilities and support continued maintenance
  • Collaborate with Privacy Risk Assessment Team and Enterprise Data Management to refresh and execute assessment of privacy risk and treatment of PII
  • Own inventory of privacy capabilities across Privacy COE and Federated Offices
  • Coordination across Privacy COE to deliver appropriate training to ensure control implementation across the Enterprise

 Qualifications:

  • A strong strategic approach with 5+ years prior experience including implementation of privacy controls
  • Experience in privacy risk and/or aiding in risk detection/mitigation processes and creating standards of care
  • Proven track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect information. 
  • Track record of being able to be a subject matter expert and using enterprise-thinking to quickly identify areas of improvement  
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability and resiliency. 
  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple demands successfully within a matrixed organization.  
  • Enjoys solving large and complicated problems.  
  • Ability to maintain a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude 

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
