Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Engineering/Tooling organization. This leadership role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL.

This position is on-site in Melbourne, FL and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

This manager is part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and field exciting aeronautics products. They are responsible for ensuring the Manufacturing Engineers have the tools and plan to execute their job.  Assignments and metrics assigned to track team’s progress must be maintained in compliance to performance objectives.  These activities are related to the definition and implementation of all airframe fabrication and assembly processes, including the equipment and standard tools required to ensure product integrity. In this role, the selected candidate will also be the Manufacturing Engineering Program Lead which will include the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers, including Managers and Leads, supporting various AS program objectives and requirements across various Sector locations
  • Be accountable for all Manufacturing Engineering statement of work assigned to the Program, which includes, but is not limited to, design manufacturing producibility, tooling, work instruction development, on-site and reach back manufacturing support, execution of engineering rotation plans, and support to system integration labs
  • Routinely meet with program and engineering Executive Leadership, to build strong relationships, and advise and discuss program strategies and execution plans
  • Determine and develop staffing profiles and schedules to meet program requirements
  • Lead various internal company and external customer audits to assure process compliance and requirements satisfaction
  • Establish and harvest team values and culture with focus on employee engagement, diversity, and first-time quality
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 7 years of relevant engineering experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing OR Master's Degree AND 5 years of relevant engineering experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing
  • 3 years of prior management/leadership experience in a related field
  • Ability to travel Domestically 10%
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation), and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
  • Current Special Access Program
  • 5 years of leadership/management experience
  • Program capture execution experience from EMD through FRP
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for change
  • Understanding of Engineering, Tooling, Production, Program Management and GSC Subcontracts processes
  • Siemens NX, TeamCenter, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems
  • Understanding of Agile principles and related tools; Jira, Confluence
  • Experienced in dynamic environments where there may be schedule changes, design changes and validation failures
  • Experience with developing enhancement processes that improve production shop floor efficiencies.
  • Experience in Build to Print (BTP) incorporation of design engineering requirements.
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates.
  • Experience in Low Observable manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in System Integration and Test equipment and techniques into production lines.
  • Prior experience in composite bonded structure and assemblies
  • Experience in electrical back shop, cable harness fabrication and testing.

Salary Range: $133,400.00 - $200,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
