Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer – Product Owner to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Schriever Space Force Base and Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • This position is for a Mid-Level Engineer on the C2BMC JEMINI program to serve as Product Owner of our GloMA team.
  • The selected candidate will primarily be responsible for a software development using Java.
  • A successful candidate will be able to:
    • Interact with other people using good verbal and written communication skills
    • Work independently or with a small group
    • Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment
    • Provide leadership for a software team that performs in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Java
    • Perform complex problem resolution assisting software team in design, development, testing, integration, and user-support for a large code baseline
    • Follow specifications in order to develop or modify stories for the software team to work
    • Assist in removing blockers from software team
    • Interface with other system support groups and software leadership to resolve problems, set standards and improve overall efficiency of the system

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 6 years of related experience, or a PhD and 4 years of related experience, or 12 years related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
  • Java experience
  • Knowledge of software practices and coding standards
  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Command and control system application development
  • Previous experience with message translation software Automated test and pipeline development experience
  • Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms
  • Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scripts
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation
  • Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers; experience setting up a container environment
  • Security+ certification

Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
