Salary range: $26.26- $36.76 per hour 

Job Description

The Consumer Loan Underwriter I is an entry level role for this series that analyzes and makes decisions on consumer lending loan requests consistent with STCU policies and product details within lending authority limits. This position works closely with higher level underwriters.

**This position will have the ability to work into a remote position with a Saturday work week rotation.  

Core Job Requirements/Outcomes

  • Demonstrate basic proficiency and knowledge of consumer lending underwriting guidelines and maintain compliance by staying up to date on STCU policies and product guidelines.
  • Identify situations where the Credit Union may be at risk and identify solutions to mitigate the risk by staying current on industry trends and risk tolerances set by management.
  • Ensure quality and correct applications by accurately calculating verification of income including basic tax analysis and reviewing credit score exceptions.
  • Organize loan turn-around time and credit decision deadlines to meet the borrowers needs and maximize production by working set queues within designated lending authority.

Other Essential Functions

  • Participate and/or consult on departmental or organizational projects that contribute to the evolvement of STCU’s culture and strategic vision and/or achievement of goals.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.

Job Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in consumer loan origination required.

Software Skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 10 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Position requires that you can work remotely efficiently. Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
