With the leadership of the Manager and the Clinical Supervisor, the Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) performs assigned supportive work in connection with the delivery of patient care, including functional tasks and skills. Performs activities which support the daily functions and operations of a patient care unit and the healthcare team. Provides constant observation and documentation of activity of assigned patient. Works under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the assigned area.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of patients as a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) at UChicago Medicine? This part-time position, with night shifts from 7pm to 7am, involves providing essential support to our Hospital Medicine unit, where your compassion and skill will shine. As a Nursing Support Assistant, you will assist patients with daily activities such as hygiene and mobility while ensuring they are comfortable and safe. Your responsibilities also include crucial tasks like monitoring vital signs, documenting patient activities, and assisting in preparing patients for discharge. You will work under the guidance of our Registered Nurses, making teamwork an essential aspect of this role. We’re looking for individuals who have a high school diploma or the equivalent, along with CPR/BLS certification and current registration on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry. In addition, you need to be physically prepared for the demands of the job, including occasional heavy lifting and engaging in continuous physical effort. Your ability to effectively communicate and work in partnership with hospital staff will help create a healing environment for our patients.
