Who Are We

As well as creating for clients, we help educate the wider industry. Our Instagram publication The Feed tracks culture at the speed of social. 6,500 people registered or tuned into our events last year, and our reports garnered more than 20 million views.

The Opportunity 

We’re looking for someone ambitious to join We Are Social London as Design Director.  You will have the vision and drive necessary to develop and lead a team, providing support, mentoring and guidance whilst ensuring the production of highly crafted work output in a fast paced working environment. 

You’ll be a brilliant multi-disciplinary designer with social and integrated experience. You’ll need excellent organisational skills combined with the desire to inspire and bring people together. You will need to advise teams on the best way to approach jobs for design and give scopings on projects whilst overseeing and directing the work of multiple designers. 

What You’ll Have Delivered Elsewhere

  • Takes ownership of defining the design direction across multiple clients, with a strong focus on elevating craft and creative standards across the board
  • Delivers award-winning creative that drives recognition, engagement and measurable impact
  • Leads global campaigns with high output and rapid turnaround, ensuring consistent quality under pressure
  • Supports the Head of Design in developing and managing a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Directs and empowers a team of designers to deliver work that aligns with client vision and agency objectives
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to grow clients’ social presence and design applications, while contributing to successful new business pitches
  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships that lead to organic business growth and long-term partnerships
  • Maintains expert knowledge of social media platforms, including updates, guidelines and limitations, regularly sharing insights with the wider team
  • Plays a key role in helping the Head of Design shape and nurture a versatile, skilled and ambitious design team
  • Produces compelling case studies that showcase design excellence and contribute to agency reputation
  • Actively seeks and initiates training opportunities to foster team development and strengthen design capabilities

  • Industry experience across social, digital, and advertising agencies, at a senior level, combining deep technical expertise with creative leadership.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, with exceptional craft skills across design, photography, and film, consistently delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary creative work.
  • An ideas-driven creative with a portfolio that showcases conceptually strong, craft-led campaigns.
  • Passionate about the power of social media and its role in shaping brand narratives and engagement.
  • Champions collaboration at every stage of the creative process, fostering strong team dynamics and co-creation.
  • A strategic thinker who excels at translating complex challenges into clear, simple, and beautifully crafted creative solutions.
  • A confident communicator who presents with clarity and authority, building trust with both clients and internal teams.
  • A natural leader who inspires and develops junior talent while effectively directing senior creatives to deliver at pace and scale.
