Our commitment to a more inclusive tech industry

Striving to create an organization, and by extension an industry, that truly reflects the diverse societies we work in has been a priority of ours for over a decade. In 2022, we achieved our goal of 40% women and gender diverse people in tech roles and we look forward to challenging ourselves to improve that percentage every year.

Beyond gender, each region focuses on an additional dimension of diversity, these are based on race, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic background or other factors which are important in that geography.

At Thoughtworks, there is no one-size-fits-all career path: here everyone is empowered to own their growth journey. Thoughtworkers come from a variety of traditional and non-traditional tech backgrounds including career changers, and/or self taught technologists who value transferable skills, adaptability and continuous growth. Whether in an internal operations or a client-facing technology role, everyone can take the opportunity to shape their unique professional experience. These many paths are reinforced by the strength of our cultivation culture, which values learning, teaching and feedback and sees everyone a leader in development. 

We offer a number of learning opportunities in different formats and our solutions cover four main areas: business, foundational, operational and core capabilities. All employees have access to an internal and vendor content catalog of 20,000+ online courses across business, tech, personal and wellness skills.

Technology isn’t one-size-fits-all and neither is the talent that builds it. We embrace technologists from all walks of life by looking at potential over pedigree. To us, a computer science graduate brings just as much value to a team as a self-taught developer. 

All entry-level consultants begin their career here the same way: five weeks in our immersive (and fully remote) Thoughtworks University program plus an entire year of support, guidance and resources.

Our thoughtful interview process was designed with the belief that candidates are more than their skills. We assess talent by assessing not only their technical abilities, but their willingness to grow and consider the implications of technology from perspectives other than their own.

At Thoughtworks, we have been working remotely and on distributed teams for over two decades. Our roots in agile delivery have prepared us to transition in difficult circumstances more smoothly while keeping employee health and safety top of mind. We know that when we look after our people, we strengthen our community which enables us to be a better partner for our clients.
