Team (Project) Introduction

The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers. Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications as well as enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics.

9th Way Insignia is looking for an Informatica Developer/Administrator to join this team.

Professional Level Information

An Engineer 3 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, along with engaging various parties in design and development. Costs and recommendations of new components may also involve part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer 3 oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.  An Engineer 3 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems.  An Engineer 3 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Data warehousing, data modeling, data integration, data Migration, ETL process and Business Intelligence
  • Support Informatica source upgrades, software upgrade projects with impact analysis, fixes and end-to-end testing
  • Follow the release cycles for Informatica system patching and implement on-time delivery of bug fixes and enhancements
  • Provide Informatica system administrative support and Configuration management of Informatica application services, and license service.
  • Data Modeling design, analysis and implementation - conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, data conversion, data integration and data mining specialization in Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence
  • Installing, configuring, developing, supporting and maintaining of the BI APPS
  • Developing ETL’s using Informatica to facilitate Extraction Transformation and data load from OLTP systems to OLAP systems
  • Designing schema using KPIs, Fact, Dimensions, Physical, Logical, Alias and Extension tables
  • Building business model and established relationships and foreign keys (physical & logical) between tables 
  • Creating LDAP authentication to enable single sign on for users in development environment leveraging analytics repository
  • Using Informatica Mapping Designer to create/update mapping using different transformations required to move data into data warehouse
  • Providing recommendations and identifying critical issues and processing faults as it pertains to data modeling, ETLs and Informatica
  • Develop and test ETL processes that populate the Enterprise Data Warehouse data marts using SQL (T-SQL, PL-SQL) or Informatica.
  • Run daily, nightly and other scheduled ETL jobs- this includes after hours support as needed. 
  • Monitor ETL loads for functionality and performance. 
  • Provides accurate and timely status reports on the progress of assigned tasks. 
  • Provides data and performance metrics of ETL jobs for official reporting deliverables. 
  • Coaches and mentors lesser experienced junior developers.  
  • Creates and maintains Documentation on ETL processes and procedures and participates in periodic reviews of existing processes.  

Requirements

  • Masters degree in technical discipline, an additional 8 years of experience considered in lieu of degree.  
  • 15+ years' experience in developing code in a variety of languages and for various ETL tools. 
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Salary Range
$120,518$136,000 USD

9th Way Insignia’s range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
