Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Mid-Level Civil Engineer to join our New England Transportation business line. The ideal candidate will be part of the New England Track Group located in Chelmsford & Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks including, but not limited to conceptual engineering, design, planning, final engineering, constructability, and cost estimating.

Daily duties and responsibilities;

  • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- large size projects.
  • Leads technical client relationships related to track design, track construction and phasing of work.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Reviews and approves track designs prepared by others
  • Develops estimates for the track engineering budgets
  • Assists in determining schedules to perform track work. 
  • Coordinates with multiple departments related to a projects scope of work.
  • Develop Procurement specifications. 
  • Perform field track inspections and develop criteria and testing requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements;

  • BA/BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field plus four years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

Preferred Qualifications;

  • Experience designing transit and transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience with design software including MicroStation, Inroads and/or OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit requirements
  • Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, NESC and other industry standards.
  • Familiar with MS Office.
  • Experience in client relations, task leadership, and team mentoring.
  • Able to work out of an AECOM office,
  • MBTA, MassDOT, CTDOT, MTA or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies preferred.
