Principal HR Business Partner

The Role

The People team at Affinity plays a key role in guiding and cultivating our outstanding culture. We’ve won multiple best workplace awards, our people are tenured, and we really enjoy working together. We’re looking for a Principal HRBP role to support our Customer Success, Marketing, and Sales managers and team members. We’re looking for a truly collaborative, business-savvy, strategic partner, to support a team that is currently remote-first, but migrating to more in-person work experiences with a hybrid model (this role is remote, but will require some travel). You’ll be great at this role if you have a passion for creative people initiatives, tinkering with what’s good to make it excellent, and a really forward-thinking mindset. You’ll be one of two HRBPs, the other one supporting our Engineering, Product, and Design teams.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the SVP People. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • As part of a very hands-on People team, fundamentally the role will be to be coach, consultant, and champion of our people managers, enabling them to be outstanding leaders
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the strengths and capabilities of your stakeholders
  • Serve as a consultative Subject Matter Expert who will establish best practice tools in organizational development, L&D, compensation, and career development
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for employee relations and performance issues
  • Guide and manage the merit and promotion process based on our philosophy and people-first strategy
  • Champion our L&D efforts to enhance our programs to an exceptional level, based on our three pillars of training (group programs, manager training, and self-paced learning) 
  • Partner with the rest of the People team for all stages of the employee lifecycle, from first outreach to onboarding to engagement, all with the intent to create a red-carpet experience for all employees
  • Effectively oversee, measure, and report on the progress of people initiatives with lessons learned and tweak as we evolve
  • Partner with leadership to prioritize the needs of the business and translate this into capability development of our people (role redundancy, promotion planning, etc)
  • Actively observe and evaluate opportunities to improve the employee experience. Find ways to build engagement, improve workplace relationships, and a sense of community to boost productivity and retention 

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • 8-10 years of Human Resources experience, 5+ years exclusively in an HRBP capacity
  • Experience with stakeholder focus on the “GTM” side of an organization
  • Direct experience in startup to medium-sized technology companies 
  • HR foundational knowledge including compensation philosophy and best practices, employment law/compliance, and demonstrated experience facilitating successful training sessions
  • Experience working with hybrid and remote teams to foster inclusivity and community
  • Skilled at influencing and relationship building to help coach and mentor managers, leadership, and other key stakeholders
  • A drive to be data-focused in how we monitor, measure and enhance employee engagement
  • Capable of translating business priorities into HR programs and workflows that drive value & meet business needs
  • In-depth knowledge of total compensation in high-growth companies  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that engages employees and maintains a consistent flow of information
  • A truly high-level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing deliverable deadlines
  • Ability to create content and deliver effective presentations for company-wide distribution 
  • Evidence of successful influence and manage change and deal effectively with change management initiatives 
  • A strategic thinker and creative problem solver who takes initiative and ownership

Please note that the role compensation details below reflect the base salary only and do not include any variable pay, equity, or benefits. This represents the salary range that Affinity believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting, that it will pay for the posted job.  

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $114,000 - $170,000 USD Base. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
