Product Engineer I

As a Technology Product Engineer, you play an integral role in system design and integration as well as providing hardware and software support. You will be working side by side with other members of the engineering team comprised of sales engineers, product engineers and engineering technicians. Doing so will help bring next generation compute and storage solutions for different business verticals such as medical, security and rack integration to market.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Sales Engineering team to design and specify platforms for new and existing customers.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and manage hardware platforms.
  • Diagnose and work with customers and/or vendors on firmware compatibility issues. 
  • Monitor EOL notices and ECNs from vendors, and initiate appropriate actions to ensure uninterrupted production for our customers.
  • Research projects including new part evaluations, performance/benchmark testing, and other activities as assigned.
  • Create and maintain quotes and BOMs.
  • Create and maintain production routes for customer platforms.
  • Oversee the launch of new product for customers.
  • Provide customer technical support as requested.
  • Provide production support as needed.
  • Product management responsibilities as assigned.
  • Frequently lift computers that weigh up to 50 pounds.


Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience working with, building and integrating computer components into systems.
  • 2 years of experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
  • 2 years of experience creating and maintaining BOMs.
  • 2 years of experience setting up RAID, configuring IPMI’s, and doing base OS installs
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, creativity and the ability to work closely with key customers, technical resources, and other members of AHEAD staff to successfully deliver assigned projects.
  • Proven experience understanding, gathering, and documenting customer requirements. 
  • Proven experience around engineering discipline and revision control, including Engineering Change Management, PLM, and EOL. 
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
  • An understanding of quality control and computer assembly methods.
  • Experience in successfully working with outside suppliers and producers.
  • In-depth understanding of computer architectures, server hardware components, and computer standards
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills, planning and organizing, decision-making, communication skills, influencing and leading, team work, negotiation skills, conflict management, adaptability, and ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Proven experience in risk management.
  • Proven experience with New Product Introduction.
  • Network+ and Server+ certifications are a plus.

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
