In the last five years, Aprio’s Legal Team has been an integral and leading force in Aprio’s transformative growth, introducing new service lines to the firm through the ongoing development of Aprio’s alternative business structure law firm, Aprio Legal, LLC, and through the diligence, integration and negotiation of over 25 inorganic growth transactions, all while facilitating Aprio’s tremendous organic growth to a Top-25 ranked accounting firm. This AGC role is a leadership role both in the Legal Team and at Aprio and focuses on Aprio’s M&A activities, both from a transactional perspective and with respect to scaling our infrastructure for continued growth. 


Position Responsibilities:
  • Providing day to day advice on a variety of sophisticated legal issues to executive management and other business leaders, client engagement teams, and stakeholders.  
  • Overseeing Aprio’s compliance with and responses to subpoena and third-party information requests.  
  • Maintaining and directing insurance claim submissions and reporting and related policy management.  
  • Proactively participating in Aprio’s efforts to remain compliant with all applicable legal and regulatory obligations as Aprio scales nationally and internationally.  
  • Driving the legal process for Aprio’s transformative approach to M&A, including leading due diligence and integration processes for the Legal Team and managing external counsel during transaction negotiations.  
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned, including special projects that may be assigned from time to time, with a best-in-class Legal Team that prioritizes innovation. 


Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate Required from an accredited institution.  
  • Possesses strong analytic, critical thinking and applies good judgment, and can provide creative and practical solutions to complex issues.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability to work as a team player with a collaborative team and establish and maintain strong working relationships.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, with internal stakeholders and external client and vendor relationships, including the ability to be an active listener, send clear, accurate and precise written communications, draft and deliver presentations, and present ideas and collaborate in one-on-one and in team meetings.  
  • Prioritizes client service – works well with internal “clients” and other stakeholders, including the ability to establish meaningful rapport with sophisticated clients to gain their confidence, gaining an intimate knowledge of their lives / objectives so as to be able to anticipate their needs and respond quickly to demanding clients’ various requests  
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, including experience advising on general corporate transactions.  
  • Background in accounting firm legal practice, SEC or PCAOB regulatory environments, and PE-backed professional services firms.
