This position will havea concentration on interpersonal violence work. The Case Managerwill also develop and implement training(s), conduct data analysis,and prepare departmental reports. All case manager positionsinvolve administrative tasks and duties. Case Management Services(CARE Team) works to educate and inform members of the BinghamtonUniversity community through caring, advocacy and supportiveendeavors.Our goal is to empower students and attend to their needsholistically through education and personal development. Casemanagers work with students to develop life skills and to promotesocial, emotional and educational growth. Case managers provideconsultation, advocacy, resources/referrals and educationalservices as well as help students navigate systems throughout theircollege experience. All case managers work from a generalist,strengths-based, trauma-informed, client-centered, humanisticapproach. The CARE Team is deeply committed to providing culturallyresponsive services to a diverse student body.Responsibilities Include:• Serve as a primary resource for working with students in need.This will involve collecting, organizing and evaluating factsassociated with the student's case; sending outreach, developingintervention plans, coordinating care and communicating with thestudent, collaborators and administrators.• Meet with students, family members (if necessary), universitystaff/faculty and community members to address needs, navigatesystems, facilitate access to services and provide follow-upsupport.• Coordinate campus and community resources to supportstudents.• Collaborate and consult with key stakeholders and members ofthe student support networks both on and off campus to develop acoordinated, multidisciplinary approach for responding to,advocating for and supporting students.• Advocate and provide supportive services to students impactedby interpersonal violence.• Manage record keeping through an electronic reporting databasesystem, making sure all correspondence and action items areaccurately inputted and in compliance with university, local, stateand federal guidelines on reporting.• Analyze and maintain data, prepare reports, and develop andfacilitate presentations.• Provide direct crisis services and respond to assignedUniversity critical incidents such as student death; providesupportive services to those directly impacted, which could includeother students, family and other campus partners.• Complete administrative duties associated with criticalincident response.• Participate in overall activities and mission of the Dean ofStudents Office including professional development and continuingeducation.• Offer consultation and outreach to faculty/staff as requestedand assigned.• As assigned, provide services after hours as well as onholidays and weekends.• As assigned, build liaison relationships with campuspartners.• Assistant with University support of other Dean of Studentsprograms and initiatives.• Meet with students requesting a medical withdrawal and completeadministrative tasks associated with medical withdrawals andre-enrollment processes.• The Case Manager will also be required to participate in anon-duty rotation for campus crisis response within the Division ofStudent Affairs.Requirements:• Bachelor's degree• Experience working in social work, psychology, public health,health policy, counseling, health education/promotion, studentaffairs, public administration or related fields• Previous experience in crisis response• Previous experience and interest in working with individualsimpacted by interpersonal violence• Possess and demonstrate effective skills in organization, timemanagement, planning, decision making, problem-solving, strategicthinking, communication, and effective use of resources• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Crisis intervention and counseling skills• Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitivecompliant and appropriate manner; and use sound judgment inresponding to crisis situations• Knowledge of the psychological and physiological impact oftrauma and implications for advocacy• Experience providing trauma-informed and culturally responsiveservices• Ability to work with students, staff, faculty and upper-leveladministration, parents and other stakeholders• Knowledge of and experience in working with adolescents oryoung adults• Must have demonstrated positive interpersonal skills, oral andwritten communication skills, public speaking skills• Must have demonstrated cultural competence with the ability tolead in a dynamic community with a diverse student body• Computer skills, including presentation software, google suite,Microsoft office suite• Ability to work flexible evening and weekend hours, asnecessaryPreferred:• Master's or advanced degree• Two or more years of experience working in social work,psychology, public health, health policy, counseling, healtheducation/promotion, student affairs, public administration orrelated fields• Professional licensure• Knowledge of DSM 5 and government regulations pertaining tostudents including FERPA, HIPAA, Title IV of the Civil Rights Actof 1964, Title IX of Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 ofthe Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with DisabilitiesAct• Demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns and need of a diversestudent population including first-generation college students• Experience developing crisis response protocols andstrategies• Experience working in a college/university environment• Ability to manage multiple, complete cases at a time• Experience working with individuals impacted by interpersonalviolence• Experience and/or understanding of the Student Conductprocess• Familiarity with Maxient systemVisa sponsorship is not available for this positionAdditional Information:Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completionof a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s)and credentials.Binghamton University is a tobacco-free campus.Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity, as defined by theExecutive Order, is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, thatan applicant for employment provide his or her currentcompensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time asthe applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment withcompensation.
