Position Overview
As a Systems Security Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security, protection, and restoration of IT systems and networks. Your work will involve coordinating the implementation of security policies, solving complex technical issues, and presenting briefings to senior management. You will be responsible for addressing integration and interoperability challenges, ensuring seamless communication and security compliance across systems.Key Responsibilities• Apply advanced IT principles, methods, and standards to solve complex technical issues.• Communicate intricate technical requirements to non-technical personnel, ensuring clear understanding.• Develop solutions for integration and interoperability challenges within the IT infrastructure.• Prepare and present detailed briefings to senior management on IT system performance and security status.• Contribute to the certification and coordination of system security to ensure robust protection across all IT systems.Conditions of Employment• This position is governed by the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA), requiring certification in the Acquisition Functional Area within established timelines.• Security clearance: Applicants must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.• U.S. Citizenship is required.• Successful completion of the E-Verify employment verification process is mandatory for new hires.• Selective Service Registration is required for male applicants born after December 31, 1959.• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.• New federal employees must meet the time-in-grade requirement (one year at the GS-12 level or equivalent).• You will need to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance before beginning employment.• This is a Cyberspace Workforce position requiring qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification.QualificationsSpecialized ExperienceTo qualify, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience, including:• Coordinating and implementing activities to ensure the protection and restoration of IT systems and services.• Applying IT security policies and procedures to the development and operation of secure networks.• Certifying and securing systems or networks to meet security requirements.• Making decisions that significantly influence agency IT policies and programs.CompetenciesThe position requires skills in the following areas:• Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in the execution of security measures and IT operations.• Customer Service: Supporting internal and external stakeholders in resolving IT security and systems issues.• Oral Communication: Effectively conveying complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.• Problem Solving: Developing solutions to complex security and integration challenges.Evaluation CriteriaYou will be evaluated based on your demonstrated competency in:• Cybersecurity: Knowledge and experience in securing IT systems and networks.• Information Technology Life Cycle Management: Experience managing IT systems from development through decommissioning.• Operating Systems: Expertise in managing and securing operating systems in diverse environments.Additional Information• COVID-19 Vaccination: Due to the injunction on Executive Order 14043, COVID-19 vaccination is not required at this time.• Department of Defense Priority Placement Program: If applicable, you may be eligible for priority placement.• Bargaining Unit: This position is part of a bargaining unit.• ICTAP Applicants: Federal employees displaced by downsizing may receive priority consideration if qualified.BenefitsWorking with the U.S. government offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, and more.
