Sr. Hybrid Infrastructure Consultant - W2 Contractor

What You’ll Do

As a non-exempt/hourly employee at Burwood, the Sr. Hybrid Infrastructure Consultant will work alongside Field Service Technicians and coordinate with our Lead Field Services Technicians to provide on-site support for our clients, ensuring seamless implementation and configuration of network infrastructure. This role requires strong project leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to support on-site teams effectively.

In this role, the Sr. Hybrid Infrastructure Consultant will have the following responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

• Lead complex technical projects, coordinating with both on-site technicians and remote teams
• Organize and communicate project plans, updates, and issues effectively
• Function as central point of contact to communicate updates and progress to key stakeholders

Key Technical Skills:

• Develop plans for migration of on-prem applications of various types to new virtual environments
• Server to Server/Server to Platform legacy application migration
• Physical to Virtual Migration experience, brownfield deployments, technology transformation
• Assist with setup and configuration of on-prem & cloud environments, remote access, and cloud integration services with oversight from the Hybrid Infrastructure and Cloud Solutions teams
• Manage virtualized server hosts; ESXi experience preferred
• Assist with setup and configuration of virtualized servers, remote desktop services, centralized DHCP, and AD management with oversight from Hybrid Infrastructure team

Documentation and Post-Implementation Testing:

• Reconfigure and test workstations, servers, and peripherals.
• Perform functional and validation testing of all reconfigured devices

Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide Tier 2/3 level help desk support during HyperCare (post-cutover support)
• Perform technical troubleshooting and remote support using tools like Kaseya

General Requirements:

• Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends
• Travel requirements: nice to have not required for this role
• Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., VMware, Cisco, Aruba) is preferred
• Excellent communication skills

• You are able to manage your travel plans independently (hotel, airfare, rental car, etc.)

• You are flexible to support on short-notice to support schedule changes and scheduling complexities

• You have experience managing virtualized server environments, with VMware vSphere experience preferred.
• Familiarity with any of the following technologies is a plus: Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure Migrate, hybrid environments, Windows Server, and Azure Virtual Desktops.

The TECH Stuff

Cloud Network & Security:

• You understand the fundamentals of Azure Networking, VNETs, and VPN Gateways.

System Setup & Support:

• Collaborate with Hybrid Infrastructure/Cloud Infrastructure teams on cloud configurations, particularly in Azure setups.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for cloud infrastructure during the HyperCare phase, including:
  • Proficiency in Windows administration (e.g., Windows shares, permissions, data migration).
  • Basic knowledge of Azure VMs and File Shares (though direct responsibility for Azure tasks is not required).
  • Ability to independently manage tasks for building out a multi-server Windows environment.
  • Experience with Wolters Kluwer and Thomson Reuters software or an accounting firm environment is a strong plus (but not required).
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with other teams to coordinate activities in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with VPN, RDP, permissions, and navigating a multi-server environment.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory administration.
