Job Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in actuarial and/or finance within the insurance industry, as well as a deep understanding of data analytics and reporting.
Business Analyst for SCOR P&C Reinsurance, supporting the India UW team in renewals monitoring and reporting, underwriting plan, business review and undertaking market studies to identify opportunities.
As a member of working groups within the global Analytics and Business Insights function, the Business Analyst will also directly contribute to maintaining and developing tools, data, and analytics, as well as reviewing and improving processes in Reinsurance.
In addition, Business Analyst follows the guidance of the Head of Analytics and Business Insights, APAC Fast Growth Markets to harmonize / improve across the regions the Plans and Renewals processes and Analytical tools and methodologies used to assess and control the Reinsurance Business Performance activity by way of dashboards and aggregation tools.
Key duties and responsibilities
1) Take care of the renewals, underwriting plan and business review processes mainly for India Reinsurance , including the collection of data, inputs in the tools, and production of reports, analysis and presentations. This includes:
Renewals monitoring and reporting
- Monitor renewals relative to underwriting plan
- Coordinate renewals monitoring and reporting, working with underwriting, pricing and modelling teams.
- Deliver weekly presentations on the status of the renewal
- Portfolio review deep dives to gain business insights on profitability. Requires coordination with the Finance and Planning teams to discuss any performance data issues.
- Create and maintain actual vs. expected results from models to support the company's decision-making process.
- Develop and implement dashboards and reports to communicate key performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Perform market assessments (including peer analysis, new/evolving products/solutions etc.) and develop strategies to improve business: elected and prioritized by the CUO depending on market or internal topics
Underwriting Plan
- Support Underwriting Plan process
- Deliver business performance review of portfolios and cedent clustering exercise as a preparation for the Underwriting Plan meetings.
- Identify trends and movements in the portfolio and collaborate with other functions such as underwriting, pricing and modelling, reserving etc. in order to ensure appropriate messaging to top management.
Support to the Business Review needs of the CUO
- Monitor business performance relative to initial pricing estimates. Regular communication between Underwriting, Pricing and Modelling, Financial Closing and Reserving who regularly reach out for underwriting data.
Others
- Provide specific support for renewals processes potentially for Europe & Canada Reinsurance.
- Contribute to the Risk concentration and aggregation monitoring
2) As a member of working groups within the global Analytics and Business Insights function, the Business Analyst will also directly contribute to maintaining and developing tools, data, and analytics, as well as reviewing and improving processes in Reinsurance. This includes:
- Improving data accuracy and process efficiency, automating wherever possible and investigating tech solutions
- Providing an IT interface to business units and analyzing and defining business requirements
3) Support key meetings for India Reinsurance and SCOR SE India Branch
- Preparation of presentations, documents and meetings’ minutes for India Reinsurance monthly meetings, SCOR SE India Branch quarterly meetings, top management visits etc
- Support in preparation of underwriting notes during renewals
Required experience & competencies
- 5-10 years of experience in the insurance / reinsurance
- Ability to work on several concomitant projects and tasks, hence the necessity to prioritize;
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal are required;
- Programming languages: R, SQL, and/or Python;
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large and complex data sets;
- Curiosity and interest to work on topics outside of her/his core area of competencies;
- Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Power BI and/or Excel.
Required Education
- College degree required. Master’s Degree or equivalent is a plus
- Associateship or Fellowship of an actuarial society is a plus.
