Essential Qualifications

  • Certificate III, Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or an equivalent).

  • A current and valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.

  • First Aid Certificate including training in asthma and anaphylaxis.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to provide a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all children.

  • Understanding the developmental milestones and needs of children in various age groups.

  • Capability to design, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs for children.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with children, parents and colleagues.

  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team.

  • Adaptable to various situations and needs that arise in an early childhood setting.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the national early learning framework for children from birth to five years.

  • Understanding of the standards and assessment process to ensure quality service.

  • Respect and understanding of diverse cultures, families and individual children's needs.

  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software to document children's learning and development.

  • Previous experience as an Educator, Assistant Educator, Childcare Assistant or similar.

AU - Trainee Educator

For eligible persons support payments may apply, up to $5,000 over a two-year period for a full-time employee. All registered trainees receive paid study and training time. Free or subsidised course fees for eligible people may apply.
 

Essential Qualifications

  • Willingness to enrol in or currently enrolled in a Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent).

  • Must be eligible to obtain or already possess a valid Working With Children Check.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated interest in early childhood education and a commitment to professional learning and development.

  • Basic verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and colleagues.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators and contribute positively to the service environment.

  • Punctuality and a sense of responsibility, recognizing the importance of consistency for children.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Any prior experience with children, such as babysitting, coaching, or volunteering, can be beneficial, even if it's not in a formal educational setting.

  • Some initial awareness of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) would be advantageous.

  • Basic proficiency in using technology, as there might be software or apps used for documentation or communication in the service.
