About the role


Chime is looking for a Social Experience Intern to join the Social Experience team. You will play a key role in shaping strategies for how we engage with members online across all of our social media platforms, in addition to having the opportunity to engage with the community across Chime’s core affinity channels (like Reddit, Discord, and Facebook Groups).


This role is structured as a 3 month engagement. The starting hourly rate offered for this role and target level of experience will begin at $25 and up to $35. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Member Experience, Communications, Product, and Incident Management to drive visibility and action for pain points that arise from members of our communities
  • Learn community engagement strategies by engaging with members as a Community Manager, responding to questions about Chime’s products and services, and triage escalations that happen across our community-based social media channels
  • Moderate responses from folks across all of our communities, removing comments where necessary, and addressing/correcting misinformation
  • Develop strategies to improve member engagement across all of Chime’s social media and community platforms

To thrive in this role, you

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • A love and passion for community—you recognize that being part of a community means being a participant in it, not a ruler of it
  • Bias towards action—you’re quickly able to identify the importance of something, and are a self-starter who works autonomously or knows when to ask for help.
  • Understand what drives engagement on social media—you often find that you’re the first person to be aware of breaking news or new trends
  • Embody empathy—you genuinely care about the outcomes of bad (and good!) experiences that Chime members and our community may face.
  • Are genuinely curious—if you don’t know the answer to something, you don’t stop there. You actively seek out clarity for ambiguity and gray areas, building and improving processes from your learnings.
