CIMA+’s Project Management team is at the forefront of delivering construction projects across a wide range of industries, including institutional and heritage buildings, healthcare, public transportation, energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Our team of professionals is currently looking for a Project Planner & Controller with relevant experience in major projects in the region of Ottawa. Under supervision of Project Expert Lead, you will contribute to the execution of one of CIMA’s major ongoing contract in Ottawa. You will work in collaboration with our project team and provide project control support from planning phase through implementation phase to closing phase.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and maintain project planning and controls processes, roadmaps, tools and techniques throughout the whole project life cycle
  • Facilitate the workshops with key stakeholders to identify key project metrics and establish clear and measurable objectives for budget management and invoice tracking frameworks for the whole project life cycle
  • Perform financial project management support activities including project breakdown set up, budgeting, estimating monitoring and forecasting
  • Prepare cost baseline and cashflow, identify cost risk, monitor cost performance against project budget and report variances 
  • Define the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and project detailed schedules in collaboration and coordination with project team
  • Resource and cost load the schedule baselines considering the project requirements including critical path, dependencies and constraints
  • Determine and analyze the critical and near critical path, identify schedule issues and propose solutions to the client to optimize schedules
  • Develop key project controls requirements to control the major projects, perform earned value analyses and determine the status of key indicators (SPI and CPI)
  • Actualize the project cost and schedules and prepare the periodical project control reports to communicate the project progress, EVM status, assumptions, constraints and risks the clients and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with project team to change management and adjust schedule to accommodate risks, scope changes & design changes
  • Ensure follow-up and integration of all changes in master budget and project framework
  • Participate in the review process of contractors' schedules and validate key milestones based on contractual requirements and project objectives

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering, Business or related discipline 
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in controlling and planning large-scale projects in the construction field 
  • Excellent knowledge of planning and scheduling software (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project) 
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) 
  • Autonomy, excellent team spirit, advanced communicational and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
