Overview:The Emergency Department will assign a Patient Advocate to offer supplementary support to its patients and visitors. The appointed Advocate will help patients and their loved ones overcome physical and emotional challenges that might arise during their stay. The Advocate will apply iCare values to provide patients with comfort, care, and assistance. The working schedule for the Patient Advocate will span 36 hours a week, from 10am-10pm or 11am-11pm.Responsibilities:• Help with the placement of patients in emergency department (ED) rooms, support them in settling in, and inform the nursing staff accordingly.• Act as a source of comfort for hospital employees by lending an ear and providing assistance with difficult patients or their families.• Record patient apprehensions and alert the Assistant Director of Emergency Department upon patient's request or when considered essential.• Builds relationships with patients and their loved ones. Demonstrates a warm, personable, and compassionate approach to visitors. Provides emotional support and addresses physical needs, such as fetching a drink or a snack, when permissible• Keep tabs on cleanliness and stocking levels in the ED waiting area to ensure it's a space that's clean, organized, and welcoming• Addressing patient and family concerns and inquiries pertaining to documentation of medical leave, care issues, or hospital admission status remains a crucial aspect of healthcare servicesQualifications:EDUCATION:• High School Diploma or equivalent Required• Bachelors PreferredEXPERIENCE:• 3-5 years of customer service experience Required• 5+ years of customer service experience, referredLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDPREFERRED
