The Role
Level is looking for a Corporate Counsel to join our growing organization. Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel & VP of Corporate Development, this position (working remotely, California Bar preferred) will be dynamic in nature with a focus on commercial contracts but with the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of legal matters, including strategic partnerships, licensing, product, compliance, data security, privacy, intellectual property, employment, immigration, international and corporate matters. The right candidate will be resourceful, efficient, and able to work independently and cross-functionally with extremely high attention to detail and organization to manage a variety of time-sensitive tasks across multiple stakeholders while providing high-quality and creative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, revise and negotiate contracts to support Level’s sales team, business development, and operations with a collaborative spirit.
- Strong negotiation skills, business judgment, and critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to understand and clearly communicate complex legal issues to business teams and counterparties.
- Serve as the main advisor to internal stakeholders on legal matters pertaining to all aspects of Level’s business.
- Conduct research and provide guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including employment law, intellectual property, data privacy, marketing communications, corporate governance, and more.
- Work with internal teams in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate risks related to data privacy and compliance.
- Maintain and update form agreements, develop and implement processes for efficient and streamlined operations surrounding commercial transactions and sales.
- Represent the Legal department in company-wide initiatives; manage and timely respond to various legal requests and special projects.
Requirements
- You have 3-6 years of post-qualification legal experience within the technology industry, either at a law firm or in-house.
- You have a law degree and are admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state.
- You have strong knowledge of data privacy and security, such as CCPA, CPRA, etc.
- You are open to expanding beyond your primary responsibilities and able to quickly learn, master, and think creatively about new areas of law and technology.
- You are flexible, well-organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment.
- Proven ability to think strategically, be resourceful, work collaboratively, and lead complex and highly impactful cross-functional projects from concept to completion.
- General understanding of hardware and software products, distribution agreements, licensing, and SaaS services within both D2C and B2B.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in supporting internal teams in problem-solving and acting as a trusted adviser to stakeholders based on accurate and detail-oriented legal and strong business judgment.
