IT Director, vCIO

The IT Director, vCIO’s principal role is to create and maintain long term relationships with our clients. This is accomplished through gaining an intimate knowledge of the client’s business and helping them infuse their business strategy with technology. This position focuses primarily on the business relationship with the client and leveraging Cutting Edge’s technical resources to improve their operational efficiencies.

Pushing sales is not a specific duty; however, when the vCIO shows the client ways they can improve their bottom line through technology and points out potential areas of business risk, sales naturally occur. In addition, it is the vCIO’s responsibility to continually prove to the client the value of our services. The vCIO is a dedicated contact for their assigned clients. Client satisfaction, and discovering additional opportunities fall under the realm of the vCIO.

  • Provide vCIO services to approximately 30-40 assigned Cutting Edge Process clients.
  • Have approximately 10 unique client touches per week
  • Schedule and attend 2 technology strategy meetings with different client POCs per week
  • Rank and compile recommendations on best practices based on information collected during Network Administration visits
  • Present recommendations in report form to client POCs and decision makers during technology strategy meetings
  • Build business relationships, understand client workflows, evaluate business models and use this information to drive technology recommendations
  • Identify business risk based on technical alignment with industry best practices
  • Build technology budgets for clients looking forward 24-60 months
  • Create and present approximately two project proposals including budgets and plans per week
  • Work with Network Administrators to evaluate and prioritize areas in need of improvement based on technical alignment with Cutting Edge best practices
  • Act as an escalation resource for client issues arising from the rest of the team
  • Regularly meet with Sales team to review client and partner referral opportunities
  • Document and track all client contact activities

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and represent the corporate culture and core values in all aspects of your job duties.
  • Familiar with the client I.T. environments
  • Basic understanding of Line of Business (LOB) applications and associated vendors
  • Handle issues that have escalated via another service delivery area or by the client
  • Help define best practices
  • Ensure client satisfaction
  • Coordinate with Proactive Network Administrator to ensure technology meets business goals

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required (Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible IT Management, prior client management or MSP experience a plus
  • Proven ability to manage communication and relationships with senior executive business stakeholders
  • Experience in the IT budgeting process
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Additional technical or industry certifications a plus

Computer Skills

Familiarity and understanding for key technology solutions. Mainly Microsoft platforms, cloud, firewall/security technology, virtualization technologies, switching/routing technologies

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and listen. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and drive or ride in a motor vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Must have the ability to travel, sometimes with short notice and be able to provide after-hours support and weekend implementation as needed.
