Anterior Team Lead

Dandy is transforming the massive ($200B) but antiquated dental industry. Backed by some of the world's leading venture capital investors, we are on an ambitious mission to integrate and simplify every function of the dental practice through technology. By building the operating system for every dental office in America, Dandy is empowering dentists with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practice, their people, and their patients.

About the Role

As a Team Lead, you are responsible for managing, coaching, and mentoring a team of digital designers to drive operational excellence through KPI and metric management.

What You'll Do

Metrics

  • Understand the business:  As a Team lead you are responsible for understanding the metrics Dandy uses to measure the success of the design workforce.  You will also understand and be able to articulate how your team members are adhering to the systems and processes Dandy puts in place

  • Deliver Success:  You will work with leadership to establish quality and throughput targets for your team members.  Once those targets are set, you will be responsible for ensuring your team achieves these targets weekly

Managing & Coaching

  • Lead a team of 10-15 digital designers; oversee the day-to-day operations of your team including scheduling, trainings, shifts, PTO/STO, etc.

  • Understand your Team’s Quality  As a team lead, you must understand the quality of work your team is producing on an ongoing basis.  You will be responsible for monitoring where each designer is (or is not) meeting the Dandy standard for product quality and be able to speak to them (and leadership) on where we have true excellence and what gaps exist. This implies conducting audits for every team member periodically.

  • Coach Designers to be Better.  Identify areas of opportunity for designers and provide continuous coaching through 1:1 meetings, group sessions, and monthly development meetings. Each designer should have a quality plan for how to improve the quality of their work and up-level their capabilities.  Where designers are truly excellent, the team lead should create opportunities for the designer to showcase their skills and support their peers in getting better.

  • Identify where you need help (and ask for it).  Dandy offers a lot of centralized resources for training and knowledge development, Team Leads should identify where they need support/help/guidance on particular areas and ensure that the team receives that support.

  • Designer Development.  Designers come to Dandy to learn and grow.  Team Leads should understand the designer’s career goals and put in place formal documentation on how to achieve those.

  • Conduct recurring 1:1s with team members, provide constructive and timely feedback to employees, and work to continuously improve the performance of the team.

Foster a culture of quality

  • Creating a great team culture and atmosphere where designers enjoy their day-to-day.

    • Hosting team-building events

    • Promoting positive interactions among team members

    • Celebrating designers’ achievements

  • Responsible for monitoring team morale and working with upper management to resolve team issues surrounding team-impacting behavior.

  • Prioritizing quality and fostering a culture of world-class design.

Team and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Communicate effectively up and across all teams and functions.  If you see an issue, you should raise it so it can be addressed.

  • Collaborate with direct teammates and cross-functional teammates on projects, tasks, and resolving issues

  • Be change champions when changes are introduced to the workforce. As a team lead, you are responsible for the success of changes implemented. You should:

    • Understand how to hold designers accountable for changes

  • Operate effectively with minimal instruction in both day-to-day tasks and discrete deliverables of projects

  • Executes with excellence on distinct, defined parts of a project that support driving a business outcome

  • When faced with problems, you use non-standard approaches and root cause analysis to resolve issues independently

Subject Matter Expertise/Ownership

  • Serve as a source of knowledge within your area of ownership

  • Consistently apply a sound decision-making framework in daily activities, informed by an understanding of how your team’s work impacts Dandy's overall
