Location: This position will ideally be based in Denver, CO, Seattle, WA, Mountain View or San Francisco, CA.  We have a hybrid work model.

About the Team:

The mission of Databricks Legal is to apply legal resources and expertise to help Databricks achieve its growth and strategic objectives, while thoughtfully protecting Databricks with a reasonable balance of risk versus opportunity.

The Role:

Databricks is looking for an experienced Global Proposal Manager to support and help accelerate field sales and Databricks’ go-to-market efforts. The Global Proposal Manager will report to Databricks' Legal Operations Leadership and will be an important part of the team responsible for providing legal support for Databricks' revenue generation activities. Specific responsibilities include building a best-in-class Global Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFI), including public sector requests, and customer questionnaires intake program/process; overseeing the development of the entire intake program/process across multiple international locations; coordinating with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts worldwide to ensure timely and compelling responses that align with Databricks’ global strategy, compliance requirements and internal policies. We are also looking for someone with experience with commercial GenAI-driven automated strategic response management and RFP tooling, including automation for streamlining the answer process, creating and/or maintaining a knowledge base of questions and answers, and creating enablement focused on educating internal customers (i.e., field sales) on the program/process.

The impact you will have:

  • You will be responsible for building a best-in-class program for all RFP, RFQ, and RFI proposals and customer questionnaires that will both meet current needs and  designed scale and evolve with future business demands and Databricks' hyper-growth
  • You are expected to be a stakeholder and partner in driving our business development efforts, leading the review and preparing proposals and customer questionnaires responses and pursuits from initial bid through award and/or completion 
  • You are expected to design and program manage the entire response lifecycle and processes for RFP, RFQ and RFI proposals, and prepare field enablement to educate Databricks’ field teams to ensure compliance with the program/process
  • You will coordinate with proposal and customer questionnaire teams, collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, and deliver high-quality content, and compelling responses
  • You will track the performance of proposals (e.g. wins/losses), identify areas for improvement, and refine future response strategies
  • You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent project management, and an ability to coordinate efforts across multiple stakeholders, teams, and regions 
  • You will have a visible impact on the success of Databricks’ pursuits, and your expertise will help guide the direction of Databricks’ proposal and customer questionnaire strategy and development
  • You are expected to partner with business development teams to implement strategies that enhance the competitiveness and effectiveness of proposals
  • You will guide proposal and customer questionnaire teams consisting of contractors and subject matter experts, providing guidance and direction throughout the proposal and customer questionnaire process
  • You are expected to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of quality and meeting tight deadlines
  • You routinely identify and recommend opportunities to change and improve ways of working
  • You are a bar raiser, constantly looking to improve standards within the team, such as by creating and implementing new approaches in standardizing proposal/customer questionnaire response formats and updating guidelines to streamline  process and quality across different regions

What we look for:

  • Five or more years of experience working with an in-house legal team, within a legal firm, pre-sales, sales operations, or deal desk; experience within a Commercial team is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience with building and managing RFP, RFQ, and RFI programs, including strong knowledge of public sector programs
  • Expertise in analyzing RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs to create tailored, compelling responses
  • Demonstrable experience creating and supporting processes that create efficiency within a legal team in a fast-scaling business
  • Strong understanding of the tools used by in-house commercial legal teams to facilitate the contracting process for revenue, including tools used for contract generation and routing (e.g., SFDC, CPQ, and CLM), and signatures (e.g., DocuSign)
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across diverse cultures 
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities 
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements 
  • Proficiency with proposal management software

 

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
