Job Description

DCS is hiring a Lead CDL Highway laborer servicing the Athens GA area. This position is a lead role responsible for the overall maintenance of the highway project assigned.    

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead crews in performing highway maintenance activities
  • May operate various forms of heavy highway equipment
  • With equipment cleans and grades ditches, drainage structures, highway road shoulders, slopes
  • Repair work includes repair of fences, sign repair, litter debris removal, and other highway maintenance activities, including emergency response
  • Use all equipment safely 
  • Mowing, and clearing brush from roadsides
  • Patching broken or eroded pavements and shoulders
  • Assist in storm cleanup

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class A with 3 years clean MVR required.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Be able to lift fifty to sixty pounds (50 - 60lbs.)
  • Experience operating skid steer and dump truck preferred.
  • Highway maintenance or construction skills are preferred.
  • Prior DOT experience a plus.
  • Ability to obtain ATSSA certification in the installation of traffic control.
  • Be able to work overtime, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations with work plans and work schedules due to workload or season display.
