This role supports the Director of Communications with developing and implementing PR and Communication plans, including community engagement and brand efforts. The ideal candidate is a skilled written and verbal communicator, organized, collaborative, innovative, and driven by ideas.Deer Valley is about to undertake one of the largest ski resort expansions in history. Join our team and help shape the future of our marketing efforts, driving our brand to new heights and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.RESPONSIBILITIES:Public Relations Planning and Execution• Assist in the development and management of the annual public relations plan• Deliver compelling brand stories to secure media coverage across local, national, and international outlets• Main point of contact for all resort media requests• Generate and manage relationships with key influencers and media contacts• Initiate, coordinate, and conduct press requests, FAM tours, and visits• Act as resort spokesperson or assign appropriate spokesperson when needed• Manage onsite press centers for events, as needed• Assist with annual update and management of the the Crisis Communications Plan• Help fulfill Alterra Mountain Company's PR needs including resort development, Ikon pass messaging and company-wide campaignsInternal Communication and HR Collaboration:• Collaborate with the HR team to create and deliver consistent on-brand narratives to staff• Assist in crafting leadership messaging and talking points to ensuring alignment between internal and external communications• Work with the HR team to create and help manage an overall internal communication strategy including messaging regarding events, activities and BU updatesMessaging and Copywriting:• Oversee all messaging needs for Deer Valley Resort• Unify all external messaging to contribute to brand reputation management• Write and distribute press releases, talking points, FAQs, and communication plans• Support the marketing team with copywriting and editing needs• Ensure consistency in internal and external messaging across all resort business unitsStakeholder Engagement and Community Relations• Monitor and track stakeholder feedback and community conversations• Develop communication plans, public statements, and FAQs based on feedback• Foster relationships with key brand influencers and the local community• Handle guest relations and reputation management through Medallia survey responses• Community outreach initiativesBudget and Agency Management• Optimize budget for successful public relations plans and community outreach campaigns• Manage contracted PR and Community Outreach agenciesMisc.• Provide support, templates, translations, and best practices for communications across company• Represent Deer Valley at PR committee meetings for external organizationsQUALIFICATIONS:• Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism preferred• 7+ years of experience in tourism and/or hospitality or development communications, agency experience preferred• Familiarity with standard industry practices in professional communications and public relations• Proven organizational skills, project management experience is a plus• Excellent written and oral communication skills, copywriting experience is a plus• Existing contacts and relationships within Utah and national hospitality, travel, and mainstream media• Experience in community relations and engaging key stakeholders• Ability to facilitate strategic dialogue and problem-solving across multiple departments• Self-starter with strong multitasking abilities• Willingness to work on weekends and attend early morning or late evening events• Availability to travel to domestic and international media events, meetings, conferences, and trade shows• Willingness to host meal/event functions with media• Ability to provide coverage for other staff members and work in other areas of operation during peak seasons• Intermediate or above skiing ability requiredDATES OF EMPLOYMENT:• Year RoundPAY RATE:• Pay: $60,000 - 80,000 annuallyDeer Valley Resort is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
