Prior to MetaMind, Richard received the best Ph.D. thesis award from Stanford for his groundbreaking work on deep learning. Bryan McCann, co-founder and CTO, is a scientist and philosopher who led natural language processing teams at Salesforce after completing his Master's in C.S. at Stanford. Our founding team members have built companies worth hundreds of millions of dollars and scaled software to serve millions of users. For fun, we run marathons, paramotor, write poetry, read Latin, hike, and camp in the middle of nowhere.

About the Job

We're looking for an incredible community manager to join the founding team of You.com and help grow, engage, and manage a community of users. You will need to get acquainted with our technology and product roadmap to answer user questions, improve our FAQ, and act as a liaison between users using our product, developers building on our platform, and our team building solutions for both. If you have a background and experience growing and building thriving communities on Discord, Slack, and social media, can converse and engage users on different platforms and produce engaging content - You.com wants you.

This role is remote however, will require the candidate be local to the Bay Area to attend relevant events. Preference will be given to candidates local to the area, or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is offered.

Required Skills:

• You're an independent self-starter with demonstrable experience building and scaling Discord and Slack communities or have experience leading developer relations or community engagement programs within the software industry.
• You're comfortable conducting multiple Zoom interviews daily, producing video content, and hosting and organizing virtual and in-person events.
• You're can build and manage processes to collect critical insights and valuable user feedback on the product.
• You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into simple and intuitive communications for people from all walks of life.
• You're eager to build the community, take ownership, and keep up with emerging trends and techniques with our growing community via social media following across Twitter, Slack, Discord, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, developer forums, and so forth.
• You're passionate about technology, AI, and helping people solve problems using technology.
• You embrace challenges, overcome obstacles and successfully interact with multiple people and departments while driving for a common goal.
• You embrace a growth mindset and are a learning machine that can quickly pivot and adjust when needed.
• You are comfortable working in a fast-paced and continuously evolving startup environment.
• You're a team player who can work cross-functionally.
• Your greatest strengths include connecting with others, inspiring following, taking risks, conducting product demos, training others, and communicating via different online channels.
• Bonus points if you can demonstrate prior success in building and scaling communities for Fortune 500 companies.
• Technical writing skills are also a bonus.
• Experience in building and managing communities on Discord and Slack is required.
• Compassion for users and flexibility to help them on weekends and holidays when needed.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Content creation: creating videos, writing technical blog posts, working on documentation, compiling Q&As, and user feedback, creating community updates, and social media posts.
• Community Engagement - develop an audience by creating value for the community you manage, fostering camaraderie amongst its members, and mitigating risks.
• Company and product promotion- promote the company's product across different social platforms using engagement tactics, creating valuable content, and building trust with community members and influencers.
• Create and manage online and in-person events, webinars, community meetups, community groups, hackathons, and provide help and support for the users in successfully mastering our products and service.

We're a remote-first company, but work hours are generally within the Pacific Timezone (7 hours behind UTC).
