Using Docusign's Intelligent Agreement Management platform, companies can create, commit, and manage agreements with solutions created by the #1 company in e-signature and contract lifecycle management (CLM).What you'll doAs a Lead Back-End Engineer on the Signing Core team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the architecture and development of services powering Docusign's electronic signature experience. You will accelerate product improvements and lead efforts across multiple engineering teams to modernize our tech stack. You will work on services with high scale and throughput, with a focus on quality and reliability.Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders, you will design, deliver and iterate on product experiences that enable our customers to create, review, and manage their agreements more easily. This role demands a high degree of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and inspire others to achieve excellence in creating outstanding user experiences that meet our customers' needs.This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering.Responsibility• Architect, implement and maintain some of Docusign's highest scale services• Build the next set of APIs to make Docusign a true development platform on top of which our customers can build integrations• Take a data driven approach to discovering root causes of complex problems then lead the implementation of their solutions• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient, and secure backend systems and APIs• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end engineers, product managers, and designers, to deliver high-quality software solutions• Drive technical excellence and best practices within the team, ensuring adherence to coding standards and quality guidelines• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure the delivery of high-quality code• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and performance of backend systems• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in backend technologies, and proactively recommend improvements and optimizations• Participate in the planning and estimation of development tasks and projects, ensuring timely deliveryJob DesignationHybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. Docusign reserves the right to change a position's job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.What you bringBasic• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.• 12+ years of experience with database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)• 12 + years of experience as a Back End engineer• 5+ years of experience in a lead or senior role• Experience with programming languages such as C#, Dot Net, C++• Experience with software development principles, design patterns, and best practices• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git• Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues• Experience communicating and collaborating, in an effort to work effectively in a team-oriented environment• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)• Experience mentoring and guiding junior back-end engineersPreferred• Proven track record of driving front-end technical strategy and influencing cross-functional teams• Experience in making architectural decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.• Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.Wage TransparencyPay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:California: $171,500.00 - $277,025.00 base salaryIllinois and Colorado: $164,800.00 - $232,750.00 base salaryWashington and New York (including NYC metro area): $164,800.00 - $242,225.00 base salaryWashington DC: $171,500.00 - $242,225.00 base salaryThis role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.Global benefits provide options for the following:• Paid Time Off: earned time off, as well as paid company holidays based on region• Paid Parental Leave: take up to six months off with your child after birth, adoption or foster care placement• Full Health Benefits Plans: options for 100% employer paid and minimum employee contribution health plans from day one of employment• Retirement Plans: select retirement and pension programs with potential for employer contributions• Learning and Development: options for coaching, online courses and education reimbursements• Compassionate Care Leave: paid time off following the loss of a loved one and other life-changing eventsLife at DocuSignWorking hereDocusign is committed to building trust and making the world more agreeable for our employees, customers and the communities in which we live and work.
