The opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As an Emergency Preparedness (EP) Training Instructor, you will be part of the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA) EPR Project Training Team, working closely with the HPC Commissioning Operations (CommOps) organisation. You will play a key role in developing, delivering, and managing training activities aligned with Emergency Preparedness, ensuring that individuals and teams are equipped to operate effectively at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

This role is based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. Flexible home and office working is supported.

What you’ll be doing

As an Emergency Preparedness Training Instructor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing EP training programmes to meet customer demand at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.
  • Developing and delivering EP-related training material, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Preparing for the training aspects of EP arrangements in readiness for forthcoming power generation operations.
  • Leading training sessions in classroom and simulated environments, coaching and mentoring trainees to support their learning journey.
  • Representing the NSA EPR Project Training Team and HPC CommOps Team at forums and meetings.
  • Analysing training requests and customer trends to identify and close capability gaps.
  • Proactively gathering and interpreting site data to inform stakeholders and advise on desired training outcomes.
  • Ensuring SMART actions are set and implemented.
  • Collaborating with external training service providers to ensure training is delivered and updated to the required specification.
  • Maintaining training administration, including tracking completion and compliance records.
  • Chairing training committee meetings where required and ensuring continuous improvement in EP training.

Who you are

We’re seeking an experienced Emergency Preparedness professional, ideally from the civil nuclear or high-hazard industries, with a strong background in training and a passion for developing others. You bring proven success at operational, tactical, and strategic levels, along with excellent coaching, influencing, and presentation skills.

Highly organised and proactive, you can manage multiple training programmes, work collaboratively, and adapt quickly to challenges. Proficient in MS Office, you’re equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

Additional Information:

  • Full internal training will be provided to support you in the role.
  • The position is predominantly based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, but may require occasional travel to other company sites.
