JOB DESCRIPTION

Empower is looking for an experienced product manager for our international businesses in Asia Pacific. This role presents an exciting opportunity to be an early team member in these geographies as we build a winning strategy to expand access to fair credit. If you’re looking for a role where you can have massive impact creating products that expand financial inclusion, and a wide scope within a high performing team, this is the role for you.

The ideal candidate is driven by a passion to improve customer financial well-being, collaborate intensely with other key disciplines, and make decisions that fuel business growth. This individual will lead teams and workstreams that drive the strategy, tactics, and delivery timelines for all Empower features and products.

More specifically, this role will lead development and launch of products in Empower’s emerging markets in Asia Pacific (particularly for Cashalo, our leading online lending platform in the Philippines). You will play a critical role in bringing products to market, designing and executing a robust testing agenda, and analyzing user data to identify areas of opportunity. You will lead day-to-day execution in partnership with Engineering, Credit and Data Science, Operations, Design, Marketing, Compliance, and Customer Support. You will also shape the longer-term strategy of the product and roadmap.

Empower is a remote-first company. We drive connectivity through regular company offsites. Travel for company offsites is expected at a minimum 2 times a year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify opportunities, develop and review proposals for new products for Empower’s international markets

  • Lead workstreams required to build impactful products, i.e., managing cross-functional support, designing specs, overseeing development and measuring outcomes

  • Work with Empower’s leadership team to build out strategy and growth plans while managing financial outcomes

  • Partner with geography leaders in Credit and Data Science, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to ensure that the team’s work fits within the larger picture

  • Lead and build teams of product managers and and colleagues from other disciplines as the business grows

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5+ years work experience in product management, with a strong preference for experience in technology start ups and/or financial services companies

  • Bachelor’s degree (or greater), ideally in an analytical or technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Economics)

  • Strong analytical abilities and are comfortable defining and measuring goals consistently

  • Deep experience with SQL, Python, and/or analytical tools such as Amplitude and Tableau

  • Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs, innovative trends, and new products in the industry

  • A get-it-done mindset; you’re resourceful and happy to be hands on and in the weeds writing product specs, leading problem solving sessions, and driving outcomes

  • An interest in addressing complicated and impactful product & business problems

  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional product initiatives

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and logical structuring abilities

  • Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate to an executive audience

  • Located in an Asia Pacific time zone to facilitate collaboration across regions.
