Engineering Associate Intern

Overview of Position:  

Encore seeks a highly motivated individual with the skills and attitude to successfully support Encore’s Engineering work across the company. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience with a leading solar and energy storage developer that's also a B Corp, a company committed to triple bottom line outcomes and using business as a force for good.


The Engineering Associate Intern will fill a key role in our expanding solar and energy storage development firm and will work across the entire portfolio of Encore’s Engineering activities. These activities will include site design, interconnection application preparation, and permitting support.


Encore is a dynamic, high-growth entrepreneurial company which requires a high degree of self-motivation, team orientation and an eager willingness of all team members to contribute to the firm’s success across activities that fall directly within the scope of their position description as well as those that do not fall directly under the scope of the position.


Responsibilities:
  • Provide myriad project development and management tasks for solar PV and battery storage projects in Northeastern US and other strategic markets. 
  • Assist the Engineering team with monthly reporting via our project management tool
  • Ensure proper file management of Engineering Documents across Encore’s various information platforms and projects.
  • Perform feasibility assessments on new opportunities. 
  • Synthesize project requirements, local regulations, and equipment specifications to provide early-stage designs. 
  • Assist Business Development, Finance, and Engineering with preparation of materials to support decision-making at critical junctures throughout project development.
  • Assist in compiling and filing interconnection applications.
  • Assist with document control and database management and organizational tasks. 
  • Assist with CAD activities based on appropriate CAD skill level. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Experience & Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience and/or education in the fields of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Environmental Engineering, Math, Chemistry, Biology or other quantitative field.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, MS Project (Smartsheet or other PM software).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to self-organize priorities, set and work to deadlines, often with limited direct oversight.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • CAD experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Passion for renewable energy or environmental issues, preferred.


$23 - $23 an hour
