We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager in the Atlanta, Chicago, New York or Washington, DC office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and business professionals.The Business Development Manager is a member of the firm's Client and Practice Development department and is responsible for the development and implementation of business development goals and strategies for the assigned practice group. Further, the Business Development team works collaboratively to execute cross-sector, cross-practice group projects and initiatives; each Business Development Manager is expected to participate in these activities.Responsibilities and Duties:• Works closely with the Practice Group Leader and other partners within the practice group to provide strategic guidance, identify practice group growth priorities, including priority clients, and develop a practice group strategic growth plan.• Executes the practice group growth plan, coordinating across practice groups, sectors, and geographies to achieve mutually beneficial growth ambition.• Is a student of the practice group: demonstrates understanding of the business (clients, services and solutions, differentiators and value proposition), keeps current on market and industry trends, and connects trends to opportunities for Eversheds Sutherland.• Develops and executes the practice group go-to-market plan focused on building the brand and raising the firm’s profile.• Supports the growth of clients within the practice group; is a resource for the Client Relationship Partners and key account teams aligned to clients who are served by, or could be served by, the practice group.• Collaborates with other CPD teams (e.g. Events, Marketing) to optimize the firm's go-to-market initiatives.• Manages the development of pitches / pursuits and other marketing collateral relevant to the practice group (e.g. grab-and-go pitch content, thought leadership, brochures, Web content), including drafting and editing content.• Manages practice group infrastructure needs (e.g. communications and meetings, sub-team/working group meetings, scoping market intelligence research and financial reporting, maintaining practice group client contact lists).• Develops and manages the annual US practice group budget. Tracks and evaluates ROI where possible.Collaboration:• Participates actively in Business Development team activities and contributes to cross-sector, cross-practice group initiatives and projects.• Engages regularly with the broader CPD team on department-wide initiatives in support of the firm's strategic priorities and growth plans.Growth role:• Business Develpment Managers are expected to take on a growth role as part of their overall professional development plan.• The chosen growth role should take no more than 25% of the manager's bandwidth.• Growth roles include: being a KAM for a priority account(s); managing a campaign; managing another special project.Leadership:• Demonstrates behaviors guided by our values: Collaborative, Creative, Professional, Inclusive, and Open.• Actively engages and brings insights to interactions with others.• Demonstrates a collaborative and solution-oriented attitude.• Takes a consultative approach and use effective communication skills to present ideas and secure buy-in from key stakeholders and leaders.• Delivers quality work product.• Serves as a role model for the team.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in marketing or business administration• Seven to ten years working in a business development manager role in a large, multi-office law firm or other professional services firm is required.• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be self-directed, self-motivated, possess strong organizational and time management skills, as well as analytical and problem solving skills, and work with a high level of professionalism.• Practical understanding of the professional services industry and the partnership environment; curiosity and an aptitude for learning; an entrepreneurial spirit; strong strategic, analytical, and critical-thinking skills; organized, logical, detail- and process-oriented; proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiar with research and client contact databases.This is a hybrid role and will require on-site presence 3 days per week. Salary is commensurate with years of relevant experience & geographic location.
