This function assists EY engagement teams in complying with professional standards and regulatory requirements, helping EY professionals stay “independent” from EY audit clients. You will help protect the global EY organization from risks related to our client-serving professionals’ personal Independence. The Independence team provides coordinated advice and assistance on Independence, conflicts, and regulatory and risk management issues, as well as supports our people by providing one-on-one assistance. You will work closely with all parts of the organization to identify, manage and monitor personal independence risk by providing coordinated advice and assistance directly to EY professionals.The opportunityWe are operating in an increasingly connected world, which is changing how we manage risk. With fast-paced technological advancements, new innovations within emerging technologies and an ever-challenging regulatory environment, it is business critical for our organization to identify not only the risks but the opportunities these present.Your key responsibilitiesAs a Manager in our Personal Independence Support Center, you’ll be responsible for fostering an inclusive environment and leading a high-performing team of Personal Independence Help Desk Agents and Analysts. You’ll be managing a team of Support Center Agents and Analysts responsible for answering independence queries of EY professionals to drive key performance indicators. You’ll be responsible for training, career development and performance management of team members. You’ll also provide guidance on how EY professionals can better comply with the firm's Independence, Quality & Risk Management policies and associated regulations. You'll consult on various Independence policies and procedures while helping others to make educated, thoughtful decisions around risk management.Additionally, the projects you'll work on are complex in nature and may impact country performance, ongoing relationships with major clients or important vendor relationships. You’ll be closely involved with Independence executives when key business issues are discussed that affect your staff.Additional responsibilities include:• Drafting communications and attending meetings with the executive team for status updates, results or escalations• Addressing and resolving escalations from the Personal Independence Support Center• Managing relationships so that expectations are met or exceeded by advising what to expect and by when through listening and responding to the needs of the business• Identifying emerging risks and proposing solutions• Using your knowledge gained from in-depth Personal Independence experience to resolve Independence policy and procedure issues, violations and concernsSkills and attributes for success• Understanding of key requirements of regulators’ Independence rules and firm policies and is knowledgeable about risk management areas outside of Independence• Project management skills to successfully handle multiple projects and initiatives concurrently• Ability to think strategically and handle complex concepts• Problem-solving skills to address matters across multiple service lines, industry sectors and geographies• Coaching and advising team members• Experience at driving and adapting to change with a “continuous improvement” mindset• Emotional intelligence, empathy and confidence to communicate difficult messages• English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication• Strong listening and interpretation skills• Good working knowledge of computers and common software packages• Proficiency in working with standard reports in excel and data analysis, including identifying trends, interpreting findings, and presenting actionable insights.• Skilled in tailoring data presentation to executives and leadership and facilitating discussions to drive engagement and decision-making.To qualify for the role, you must have• Experience managing others and building inclusive teams through a sense of belonging that inspires innovation and collaboration• Process improvement experience• Five-plus years of related work experience in a people management role• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceIdeally, you will have• The ability to exercise significant levels of independent judgment and discretion when analyzing complex issues and risk affecting Independence across industry and service lines• The ability to use your knowledge and experience and refer to the firm's Independence and related policies and regulations, to identify appropriate opportunities and solutionsWhat we offerWe offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $180,100. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,600 to $204,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
