Job Description

In this compelling leadership position, you will lead efforts on risk monitoring, forecast and reviews for the organization, coordinate risk mitigation activities, and provide risk mitigation assistance to other groups.  You will lead the Single Family portfolio management function that spans across Single Family performance metrices, including the top of house risk metrices, risk, return, Housing Goals, and divisionally managed metrics, delinquent rates, and CRT.

The Senior Director - Head of Acquisition Risk and Portfolio Management role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Review and forecast risks to Single Family business and collaborate with leadership to develop and lead initiatives to change and improve the forecast, monitoring and identification process.
  • Optimize Single Family portfolio by balancing multiple objectives. Timely report and identify issues that may hinder Single Family achieving its goals.
  • Understand Fannie Mae’s DU model.
  • Provide innovative ideas to improve our process and functions to gain efficiency
  • Propose actions to execute plans or decisions to avoid risks or mitigate their impact.
  • Oversee risk analysis, review findings, and assist leadership with developing solutions.
  • Direct and train teams and business groups on risk mitigation strategies and assist leadership with strategy development.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience

  • 8 years of experience working in risk management function for a financial institution, 12 years of experience preferred
  • Must have adequate knowledge of Single Family mortgage business and risk and understand stress test for financial institutions

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in Excel, Power Point, and Tableau
  • Skilled in SQL and Python object-oriented programming
  • Desired analytical skills:    
    • Experience identifying and determining levels of mortgage risk and provide remediation for risk reduction
    • Portfolio management skills, understand portfolio optimization framework, able to assess impact on Single Family portfolio when making tradeoff decisions
    • Familiar with mortgage loan underwriting model (DU) framework, stress testing, Basel regulatory capital
    • Risk assessment and management capability including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying gaps, and remediating risk
    • Familiar with risk limit setting methods and process
    • Understand stress test concept and techniques for financial institutions
    • Adequate quantitative knowledge to understand quantitative credit risk models, and their model rationale and applications
    • Track record for conducing independent, original research; for example, be able to manipulate data to perform sound analysis that leads to decision making
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Able to manage project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
  • Desired leadership skills:
    • Collective capabilities for leadership, including leading teams, giving feedback, facilitating meetings, coaching and mentoring
    • Experience identifying and selecting strategic options, and identifying resources to meet the defined objectives
    • Experience helping an organization to plan and manage change in effort to meet strategic objectives
    • Must be able to work with people having a different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working toward a common goal
    • Sound relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, vendors, and building relationship networks
