About the Role:

TechOps Engineers at Fieldguide are pivotal in bridging Engineering, Customer Support, and IT to drive automation and operational excellence. They have a background in software engineering, a passion for automation, strong communication and writing skills, and the ability to respond effectively to internal and customer events.

What You’ll Do:

  • Automation: Write code and tools to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and enhance efficiency for core product and internal workflows.

  • Production Support and Incident Response: Act as a primary responder to technical incidents, analyze root causes, and implement preventive measures.

  • Internal IT Efficiency: Support internal IT processes with an eye towards automation around vendor management, access and identity management, and more.

  • Monitoring: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and scalability.

  • Security Compliance: Ensure systems adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Customer Support, and Product teams to support deployment processes and integrate new technologies.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configuration, procedures, and changes to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuity.

About You:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years in a TechOps, IT, Engineering, or DevOps role.

  • Proficiency in Python or JavaScript plus basic software engineering knowledge. While you are not expected to be a software engineer, foundational programming skills are essential.

  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of database technologies.

  • Experience working with APIs.

  • Experience with automation tools like Cypress or similar.

  • Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience working with AI and LLMs.

  • Familiarity with macOS and IT management.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog and Sentry.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Extremely detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
