tl;dr - Scout Scout is dedicated to helping startups streamline their processes and secure non-dilutive funding through programs like SBIR/STTR and other federal contracting opportunities. We work with high impact start-ups and companies across healthcare, climate, and defense. Securing non-dilutive funding is a transformative way for early-stage R&D startups to access anywhere from $100,000 to over $10 million without giving away equity. These opportunities are especially critical for high-risk startups developing novel innovations that can have a significant impact on the world. However, preparing grants and federal contracts is a manual, time-intensive process, requiring up to 200 hours for a single application. With applications being highly competitive and resource-intensive, we are innovating to make the process more efficient and accessible for our clients.
We are looking for an intern specializing in Computer Science who is interested in working directly with the founders in a fast-paced start-up environment. The intern will help translate manual templates and federal contracting opportunities into a structured, platform-compatible format, enabling greater automation and operational efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on our automation workflows and help startups achieve success in their funding journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing manual templates and documentation related to federal contracting and grant opportunities.
Develop structured, machine-readable formats (e.g., JSON, XML) compatible with the company’s platform.
Implement scripts or tools to automate the translation of manual data into platform-ready formats.
Collaborate closely with the founders to identify pain points and propose innovative automation solutions.
Test and debug data formats and automation processes to ensure reliability and accuracy.
Document processes, standards, and tools developed during the internship.
Requirements:
Senior college student pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.
Familiarity with data formats like JSON, XML, or CSV.
Knowledge of APIs and data integration is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Interest in working in a fast-paced start-up environment and collaborating directly with company founders.
Passion for climate technology, innovation, or federal contracting is a bonus.
Why Join Us?
Hands-on experience with real-world projects in the health, defense, and climate tech industries.
Opportunity to work directly with the founders and gain insights into start-up operations
Flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work.
A chance to contribute to developing cutting-edge tools that impact startups and sustainability initiatives.
