Technical Product Owner - Core Services

Fourth is no ordinary product software company. We pride ourselves on unique cloud-based SaaS used by several million users which enables hotels, restaurants, bars, and pubs to improve efficiency and save money whether they're buying stock, scheduling staff, or creating recipes. 

 

We are now looking for a Product Owner in Sofia. 

 

Product Owner (PO)at Fourth is an integral member of the scrum team within the Technology division and is expected to perform as such in all aspects of team success. The PO is accountable for delivering a unified customer view into Engineering through provision of visible, well-articulated, detailed and prioritised backlogs of features and user stories into the scrum delivery teams. 

 

The Product and the Team: Fourth's Core Services products are at the heart of all of our solutions for the hospitality industry. Employing a services-based architecture we have expanded and extended the use of our legacy products and have rapidly deployed new, modern solutions to customers and partners across the globe.  The Core Services engineering team, working largely in a Microsoft environment, build and maintain central services, public and private APIs, customer and internal-facing user interfaces and shared data sources. 

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

 

Product Backlog 

 

•         Creation and grooming of the product backlog, ensuring preparedness for collaborative product roadmap development 

•         Working closely with business sponsors and stakeholders to define and prioritise features, ensuring alignment with customer needs and strategic organisational goals 

•         Eliciting requirements from stakeholders (both internal and external) and transforming them into Features & User Stories, to clearly articulate the customer need or problem 

•         Defining clear Acceptance Criteria so that the team understand the expected outcomes and intended value being delivered for end-users 

•         Continually prioritising the product backlog to always ensure the user stories of highest value are foremost 

•         Collaborating with other Product Owners to identify dependencies and constraints and align contents of sprint to resolve these 

•         Conveying requirements to Architecture and UX team members and review their outputs (solution designs, wireframes etc.) to ensure that requirements are met before refining solutions with the engineering team 

•         Gathering and reviewing data on Product Performance and usage analytics to make informed decisions regarding existing and future functionality 

 

Planning & Sprint Activities 

 

•         Attend all scrum ceremonies (release planning, sprint planning, stand ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) 

•         Negotiate contents of sprint with the scrum development team based on size and capacity of the team 

•         Act as the stakeholder/customer representative, conveying the vision and value to be achieved during the release and iterations whilst being present to clarify requirements and answer questions. 

•         Lead and motivate the team to achieve their sprint goals 

•         Work with management to develop swim lanes for various categories of work in any given sprint (e.g. bug fixing, new features, technical debt). 

 

Acceptance, Demos & Release 

 

•         Review and accept user stories as they are completed during the sprint, ensuring they deliver the intended business value. Doing this as early as possible in the sprint allows the team time to fix issues and achieve their sprint goals. 

•         Ensure product/feature launch readiness - write release notes and convey changes to stakeholders (Projects, Knowledge and Support) to support a smooth transition to live and operations 

•         Demo new functionality to stakeholders and customers as required 

•         Regularly communicate out progress to the wider stakeholder community 

•         Is the “go to” person within Technology from the Operations side of the business 

•         Answering questions and assisting on resolving Product Issues, Customer/Sales queries and making priority calls 

 

 

Requirements: 

 

•           Proven experience of working (2 years+) as a Product Owner in a SaaS product development environment; preferably qualified as a Certified Scrum Product Owner

•          Strong technical acumen, in particular, experience building APIs,back-end products and services is essential 

•          Strong background in B2B SaaS companies would be advantageous

•          Able to understand and articulate complex ideas, and distil them into clear and concise requirements for different audiences 

•          A driven individual with a solution-oriented mindset

•          Highly resilient and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with excellent problem-solving skills 

•          A team player - exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams across all levels and functions within Fourth and Fourth’s Customers alike.
