Cartographer - Mid

Global Dimensions is a HUBZone, service disabled, veteran-owned small business based in Fredericksburg, VA. We are a dynamic, expanding company with exciting opportunities in language/culture, training/education/instruction, IT, cyber security, and intelligence (analysts, CI, HUMINT, SIGINT, etc.). Global Dimensions is currently seeking a Mid level Cartographer for a position at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

The Cartographer will utilize their expertise in feature extraction and boundary recovery, working with geospatial data sources such as CIB1, TLMs, MGCP products, DTED, SRTM, and NTM. They will manage geospatial databases, perform cartographic finishing techniques, and apply data conversion tools like FME and ESRI ETL tools. The cartographer will also leverage map finishing automation tools such as CWS, DCS, and ePODS, and ensure data quality using tools like GAIT and ArcGIS Data ReViewer. They will be responsible for maintaining high-quality geospatial products through effective quality control workflows and feature data extraction processes.

  • Have a current TS/SCI security clearance
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated relevant experience required.
  • Experience in cartographic finishing and feature extraction processes.
  • Familiarity with Controlled Image Base (CIB1), Topographic Line Maps (TLMs), Multi-national Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP) products, MGCP Derived Graphics (MDG), Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and National Technical Means (NTM) in the context of boundary recovery, including data retrieval and storage processes.
  • Knowledge of quality control workflows, management of geospatial database content, feature data extraction, and processes for attributing data.
  • Proven experience in applying cartographic finishing techniques.
  • Proficient in using data conversion tools such as FME, ESRI extract, transform, and load (ETL) tools, or similar software extensions.
  • Proven experience with map finishing automation tools, including Cartographic Web Services (CWS), Digital Cartographic Studio (DCS), and Enterprise Product on Demand Services (ePODS).
  • Familiarity with data quality control tools, including Geospatial Analysis Inspection Tool (GAIT), ArcGIS Data ReViewer, or other similar geospatial data inspection software.
