Design Engineer III- Interiors Development

This role will support engineering design and development activities.


Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Develop and mature assigned components from concept through production
  • Establish and achieve targets for cost, investment, weight, performance, and quality
  • Coordinate engineering designs and systems with purchasing, suppliers, testing team, manufacturing team, other vehicle subsystems and functions
  • Responsible for quality of components and/or subsystem 3D CAD and technical drawings
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems with moderate to minimal guidance. 
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs. 
  • Travel to client sites required. 


Requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree and 5+ years industry experience developing automotive interior components required
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing Lower cabin trim, Tail Gate Lining, Floor Ducts, Floor Carpet components from concept to release.
  • Experience using 3-D modeling software tools (CATIA V6 required).
  • Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for hard trim (plastics) and soft trim required.
  • Ability to interpret the technical and homologation requirements for Interiors and be able to apply to the designs.
  • Ability to interpret CAE/test results and integrate recommendations into product designs.
  • Previous Honda development experience is a plus.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.
