About the Role 

Design, analyze, manufacture, and integrate secondary structures used to secure Avionics components and harnessing on the flight vehicle. 

Own vehicle-level harnessing designs through vehicle install, including requirements verification. 

Create and release detailed component and assembly drawings, incorporating an understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups. 

Perform the testing and the failure analysis of harnessing as it relates to thermal, loads, vibration and shock. 

Document and communicate the design, test, and analysis via design reviews. 

Interface with the manufacturing team to build the released drawings and install on schedule.  

Develop and improve the build process by working with technician.

Required Qualifications
  • Owned complex projects from design to launch 
  • Ability to understand from first principles, not rely on the answers output from a mystery tool
  • Knowledge of loads such as pressure, vibration, shock, thermal, and how to design for them
  • Experience with harness routing 
  • 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Familiarity with CAD and Analysis packages (and willingness to learn NX andSimcenter)
  • Strong understanding and application of drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) in creating drawings
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field


Bonus Points For
  • A proven history of successful hardware used to secure Avionics/Harnessing in launch vehicles or space systems
  • Experience with fatigue and thermal testing of electro-mechanical assemblies 
  • Exposure to designing for high vibration environments 
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620E Class 3 for harness + PCBA manufacturing 
  • Having a design portfolio


$91,000 - $142,000 a year
Compensation and Benefits  
Your level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the considerations of job-related knowledge and skills, education, and direct experience.   
Salary is just one component of the total employee package, which also includes company equity at an exciting time of company growth, as well as comprehensive medical, 401(k) retirement plan, a generous PTO policy, employee discounts, and more. 

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
