Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Allergy Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse to provide specialized care and support for patients with allergic conditions, including conducting assessments, administering treatments such as immunotherapy, and educating patients about allergy management and prevention strategies. This role is essential in facilitating effective communication between patients and healthcare providers to ensure optimal care and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients with allergic conditions, including taking medical histories and evaluating symptoms to determine appropriate care needs. 
  • Assist in performing and interpreting allergy tests, including skin tests and blood work, while ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures. 
  • Administer allergen immunotherapy injections or sublingual treatment and monitor patients for any adverse reactions. 
  • Educate patients and their families about allergy management, including avoidance strategies, the use of medications, and emergency procedures such as the use of epinephrine auto-injectors. 
  • Collaborate with allergists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans while following up on patient progress. 
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and patient responses in accordance with healthcare regulations and clinic policies. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current outpatient experience required. 
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. 
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $28hr        Max: $44hr
