Associate, Investment Risk – Asset Backed Securities ("ABS")


Responsibilities of this role include helping in the development of a comprehensive investment risk framework, articulating and refining risk appetite principles, risk capture, risk limits and targets, and reporting data-driven aggregation and top-down communication. This role will specifically be tasked with risk coverage related to Asset backed Securities across the credit spectrum, with some overlap in Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Credit. This role is expected to participate in other activities around macro risk-mitigating strategies related to economic balance sheets as we seek the balance between risk and reward. This role will be based in New York City in Global Atlantic's Hudson Yards office space.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Chief Risk Officer of Investments, other Investment Risk functions, and the broader Investments department to develop and maintain a comprehensive risk framework focused on ABS.
  • Lead ongoing implementation of refinements to risk models for all investment portfolios, with a primary focus on ABS
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between the Investments department and Investment Risk team, maintaining consistent communication at a steady cadence. Lead discussions and follow-ups on ABS to better understand the fundamental risk that is being originated and purchased.
  • Continually challenge the investment risk profile to ensure compliance with risk limits and appetite. Escalate high priority issues to the appropriate audiences and committees.
  • Review and opine on transactions that are presented to Investment Committee, specifically focused on compliance with the investment risk framework and limits.
  • Review and modify models and analytics in support of the various quarterly portfolio valuation and stress testing processes.
  • Assist the broader Risk organization in ad hoc projects and analyses.
  • Develop tools to run and analyze current ABS portfolio, and new issue deals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of industry exposure to valuation, analysis and risk management of structured credit (RMBS, CLO, CMBS, ABS)
  • Experience at Asset Management or Investment Bank preferred
  • Self-motivated, organized, driven individual with excellent communication skills
  • Deep understanding of credit and structured products required.
  • Direct experience analyzing and investing in Securitized Products
  • Dynamic team player who can also operate independently; skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information, identify key issues, and drive resolutions
  • Prepare presentations for Senior Leadership Committees to highlight findings and key issues as they arise
  • Demonstrated delivery of high-quality results within expected timelines

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.

Global Atlantic's base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic's total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $190,000
