Perform minor maintenance duties in secondary trades. Maintain a safe, comfortable, and secure learning environment for students, staff, and the public.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.• Perform journey level skilled functions in construction, renovation, and maintenance relating to all forms of surface and flooring systems; permanent, moveable, and portable partition and wall systems; and hard, suspended, and acoustic ceiling systems.• Install and maintain doors, windows, casement, and inclusive hardware.• Evaluate, design, estimate, identify, and requisition materials for each work assignment.• Assist in minor maintenance activities utilizing secondary skills as required.• Perform journey level skills in the assessment and evaluation of structural system deficiencies and appropriate corrective action, requiring a working knowledge of current code requirements with emphasis on structural spans, fire code requirements relative to occupancy, egress, and Americans with Disabilities Act.• Perform journey level carpentry skills related to District facilities and relocate able buildings.• Provide necessary tools, materials, personnel, and clean-up required for a job, and maintain a safe work environment.• Complete and maintain required forms and records, including time and attendance and service & work orders.• Attend scheduled meetings for daily assignments, project orientation, bond-related projects, and other projects as necessary. Journey level knowledge in trade methods, materials, and tools. Knowledge of Uniform Building Code sections 2, 3, 4, 5 and blueprint/schematic reading. Operating knowledge of and experience with scaffolds, ladders, and man lifts. Operating knowledge of bucket truck (ANSI Certification) preferred. Must pass written and practical test prior to hire.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado driver's license. Power actuated tool certification within 3 months after hire. Bucket truck/ANSI certification preferred.SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: Directly supervises up to 4 seasonal employees in the Facilities Services Department. Spends less than 50% of time conducting supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Acts as a technical resource for employees within the work group by providing training, and for architects regarding bond projects and maintenance service contracts.CONTACTS: Daily contact with persons within unit/building to resolve problems and negotiate matters, and with persons outside department/building to maintain relationships.
