The Opportunity
The Facilitator assists the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in teaching a cohort of our learners, ensuring the success and effectiveness of the students within the cohort. You will directly work with learners in the cohort to provide instruction and mentoring. This is a fully remote position reporting to the Sr. Director of Academic Programs.
In this Role You'll Get To:

Ensure the curriculum, assessments, grading formulas, and other relevant features are set up and rendered in the LMS and other systems.

Deliver some demos (live lectures), Q&A sessions, and small group workshops through video conferencing. These demos may be recorded for ongoing distribution by Kenzie Academy.

Ensure that all recorded demos, Q&As, and workshop video content are posted for our students to review.

Grade all assignments and provide learner feedback on assessments.

Moderate the learner discussion board, answering questions, and providing additional learning resources to help learners understand the material.

Monitor data dashboards each day to create and communicate daily and weekly schedules for facilitators and students based on the findings of the data. When students fall behind or encounter a difficult life situation, the Facilitator collaborates with a Student Success Manager to help students get back on track.

Collaborate with our in-house product team on building internal tools to deliver content and track student performance.

What we're Looking For:
-
One year of experience in software development. Relevant teaching experience, or demonstrated technical ability (through technical interviews, work product, and portfolio of engineering or teaching work) may be considered equivalent.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or a technical certification and experience facilitating.

Have a desire to teach students of all ages and backgrounds in computer programming.

You enjoy helping others reach their potential.

Experienced and knowledgeable in Java, SQL or comparable databases, Bash, and Git.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Have taught introductory programming or computer science classes.

Experience working AWS Cloud Infrastructure.

Proficient in at least one other programming language (preferably JavaScript).

Experience working with teams of teaching assistants, tutors, or similar junior instructional staff.

Train and mentor junior instructional staff to "lead through questioning" and engage with students with diverse learning styles.

Excited to experiment with new approaches to education.

Comfortable working on a remote team through chat and video.
