Our mission is together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose —college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Middle School Science Teacher's primary Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing appropriate instructional programs in a middle school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning and Instruction• Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with subject matter• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning• Plans and delivers instruction for a variety of learners• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.• Understands and uses assessment to promote student learningClassroom Environment• Creates an environment that promotes respect, rapport, and learning• Establishes effective relationships with students• Communicates clear and consistent expectations for learning, behavior, and achievement• Monitors and manages student behavior effectivelyCommunication• Communicates effectively with families, students, and colleagues• Communicates student progress in a timely and thorough manner• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skillsProfessional Responsibility• Supports the mission and values of the school• Supports the programs and priorities of the department and school• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with faculty, students, and parents• Maintains confidentiality• Demonstrates professional behavior• Seeks and develops opportunities for professional growth• Mandatorily attends and participates in required meetings, school events, and committee work (including evenings and weekends as necessary)• Participates in the arrival and dismissal of students daily with assigned tasks and responsibilities• Performs bus duties for the safety of students daily with assigned tasks and responsibilities• Monitors hallways between classroom duties to establish safety and clear expectations of student behaviors in the hallways• Home visits to students/families' homes twice per school year• Performs duties as required/requestedQualificationsDESIRED EXPERIENCERequired• B.A/ B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching.• Minnesota State certification in teaching appropriate subject areas (5-8 Science). We will work with applicants whose license is in process.• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written• Highly organized and punctual• Customer focused approach• A high degree of flexibility• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment• Experience with using technology in teaching and learning• Skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches• Familiarity with current teaching/ learning theories;• The commitment to driving cultural relevance, diversity, equity and inclusion and sense of belonging in a homogeneous community.Highly Preferred• Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color• License Grades 5-8 with teaching experience and strong competency in the area of STEM instructionAdditional InformationCOMPENSATIONSalary: $44,880+• To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the Regional KIPP Minnesota pay scale and benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life, long & short-term disability, and retirement benefits, as well as an annual salary review and revision.How to ApplyWe are committed to hiring a diverse, multicultural leadership team and encourage applications from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
