Kitware is excited to open the application window for our Open Door Scholarship. We started this scholarship in 2021 as part of our efforts to help advance career opportunities for aspiring computer scientists in the Black community. We recognize that Black Americans are underrepresented in our industry. We strongly believe this needs to change, and we are dedicated to being an active part of the solution.
Program Overview:

Kitware is delighted to announce the opening of applications for our Open Door Scholarship, aimed at supporting bright Black high school seniors passionate about pursuing education in computer science or related fields. Launched in 2021, this scholarship initiative is part of Kitware's commitment to fostering diversity within the tech industry, highlighting the necessity for greater representation of Black Americans. We recognize this need and actively strive to make a positive impact. This year, we are offering a $5,000 scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year, and there's an opportunity for recipients to renew their award annually, totaling up to $20,000 over four years. To qualify, applicants must be graduating high school seniors in spring 2025, with plans to enroll in college and pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering. Demonstrating a strong academic performance and a passion for science and technology is essential. As part of the application process, you will need to submit two recommendation letters—one from a math or science teacher—along with your high school transcript, statements of interest, and a short essay answering a creative prompt involving software solutions. We encourage interested candidates to apply between January 1st and March 17th, 2025, and we can’t wait to see the innovative ideas you bring to the table!
